34 degrees, but no rain. Went for a ride. Saw some cows. Came home after a 90 mins because the wind was blowing sideways at 30mph and I was freezing! Still smiling though!

Not much going on today...got a battery tender plus because my car wouldn't start, but it has sae plugs and should work for my bike if I need it.

Was too nice of a sunny day not to try the winter riding gear.

16 Degrees Fahrenheit

No problem with parking

This was back in January:

I'm using (all First Gear) jacket liner, gloves and socks which are regulated thru dual controller. Non heated stuff: Long johns and balaclava. Touring windshield and handguards help as well. I do not have heated grips and I do not feel the need for them.

What's your gear?

Drizzling rain off and on so I just got on the internet and ordered a set of tires. I have about 6800 miles on it and the rear is getting down to the wear marks. It's a 2014 NC700X. The first owner put a little over 1600 miles on it from 2014 to July of 2016. I've put over 5K on it since July of last year. And didn't ride for 3 months due to broken leg. Rode it about 400 miles last week. Waiting for sunshine.

I have non-heated gear as well, but my hands freeze even with the guards. I know I can go with heated grips, but had them on my last bike and didn't like them. I am going to try heated gloves (battery powered) - saw some really good reviews on the Highway 21 heated gloves and just ordered them. Nice thing about the gloves is that I can use them on my winter hikes as well.

Wind gusts to 45 mph. (72.42 kph). Think I will skip the ride. High school baseball this afternoon, which might be entertaining.

Shopped online for a phone mount, basically to take some video of the rider. I do not use GPS or the phone when riding.
I didn't buy one, need to be sure my life safe case will fit.

Spent some quality time working on the bike this weekend while the wife was out of town:

- Had new Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires mounted
- New chain and sprockets (so much smoother!)
- Lowered rear brake lever - had installed Knight Design's lower footpegs and just got around to lowering brake
- Installed Grip Puppies & Cramp Buster
- Wired up a Whistler Motoglo to the brake lights
- Put on leads for my battery tender - which was good because I drained my battery while testing Motoglo
- Did some general clean-up and futzing

Next weekend it's Rox 2" risers!

I found I could only get one inch risers on. I would need to relocate or lengthen the cables to get two inches.

I finally got around in finishing up my wiring and adding accessories along with heated grips.

I was sent a replacement bikemaster heated grips with LCDs and they wanted the faulty grip so I took everything off and took the side panels off. These new heated grips are great because they also act as a voltmeter. I also shaved the throttle tube so it's nice and smooth and grips just slid in nicely.

I installed a switch for my LED fog lights so I can turn them off even though I have them on all the time. Another reason being my subharness does not have that high beam wire.

For my third empty switched power, I added dual USB in my frunk. It's pretty cool because it's also a cigarette light plug as well.

To finish up my wiring, I added another cigarette lighter plug straight to the battery as well as a SAE wire for battery tender which previous owner installed.

So my parts came in and I finally got a chance to fix my forks. Took them apart cleaned everything and replaced guide bushing retaining clips seals and dust seals

Bonus I added some gators

I would have tried doing a step by step sense I couldn't find one that I thought was very helpful, but I wasn't sure I was doing everything properly until I was done (a hour after dark in my driveway using a headlamp). Once again dduelin's how to fork oil change was my best source of info.

Installed new rear brake pads, adjusted and greased chain on Nana Chou. Was going to wash her, but the weatherman was not correct. It did not rain...........

No heated gear for me. I use Firstgear Thermo 1-Piece Suit, Dainese Scout Gloves and Dainese Latemar boots with wool socks. I have heated grips (factory) and Barkbusters. I only live 10 non-highway miles from work and the Firstgear is great. I just wear my work clothes (business casual) under the suit otherwise I get too hot. Once the temp goes above 40 I leave the suit home and use my Kilm gear.

I'm a southern boy, so heated gear is a must. I still remember how warm the back of my neck felt on a February ride.

Ended up dropping it off for 16K service, PR4 tires & chain. I don't have all the tools and service intervals don't merit me buying them.

I rode to Joplin. Andrew at Joplin Powersports did a nice job installing the SW Motech turn signals in the handguards. I don't like doing electrical stuff and he is sort of a wiring specialist. They provide a little more visibility to the front. I also had a very good meal across the street at Tokyo steak and sushi. The instructions say they can be running lights or a turn signal; I chose the turn signal.

Hey Hank

If you wired up some diodes in the wires going to the new light it could potentially do double duty as both running light and turn signal, just like the OEM turn signals.

Just food for thought if you ever have to go back to Andrew at Joplin Powersports for anything.

I did 217 miles of mountain back roads to include about 25 miles of gravel through the mountains. 40s F. to start with 71 F. at end. Lots of blue sky to ride under. Crazy weather, expecting snow Sunday. East TN, forever changing.
