2017: What did you do to/with your NC700 today?

windy but smoke cleared quite a bit today within the radius I cared to venture through. rode a bunch to get the feel for best adjustment of many possibilities my highway pegs allow. they are nicely built and finished and stick out pretty far and go forward and down nicely on the engine guards I have -- just the way I wanted. real comfortable, making the seat work better too or at least having an alternate position is of great use. didn't fall down or get blown over either. I'll take some pictures later but for now:

New highway pegs on a dirty bike -- went riding in the boonies a couple days back and the bugs have been building up too. The pegs are nice and heavy and soak up vibrations well and provide a good footbed. They fold up well too.

Went for a ride looking for a Steeple so I could play the NC Tag game for the first time. Success. Also installed Bark Busters hand guards, Givi engine guards, and replaced the headlight bulb with an LED. Realizing that mods to the left side would be easier with a center stand vs a kickstand. Adding center stand to want list.

Car wouldn't start, had to have it towed, wifey wanted something from the store, so I took the NC since we had no Car, dropped it again.in the parking lot.
.guess I didn't put the kickstand fully extended. Went into the store, came out, pulled the ignition key out of my pocket, bent 90 degrees. I was able to straighten it enough to start the bike. Sheesh...what a day.

Took the bike and its external fuel tank, er bomb, for a test ride and then rode into work.

Works absolutely beautifully. The tank held 2.8 gallons and still had room before the cap, which puts me at 6.4 gallons of total fuel. Even when I get low fuel economy due to the speed I ride, I can COMFORTABLY expect 350 miles per tank and around 415 if I ride it leisurely.

IronButt requires stops every 350 miles anyhow, so stretching it over 400 isn't really necessary. I'll continue testing this week but I intend on letting it run until my gas light comes on (at which point 2.6 gallons have been consumed in the main tank), ride it approximately 15-20 miles further and then flip the switch and let the 2.8 gallons dump into the main tank. Can't wait.

Still looking at ways to improve it, but for now this is fine.

Left Olympia at 0730 - half hour late - down i5 to Portland, over mt hood, through Madras, bend, la pine, and ended up in klamath Falls. Covered about 500 miles on a roundabout route to Shasta lake for the new Day Long seat. Highlight today was Crater Lake.

My son Max and I attended the 35th Green Mountain Rally at Camp Thorpe in Goshen, Vermont.

Instead of renting a cabin like we usually do we brought our new toy hauler instead with our two bikes on board.

I used a sheet of plywood cut down about 5 inches to clear the rear door. I also cut slots in each corner so the board would mount
over the four tie down rings in the floor.

The club had about 225 people preregistered. The weekend was cool and wet with temps during the day only as high as 60F and a low of 40F at night
which kept a lot of people away. The crowd was fairly sparse by Saturday at noon even though about 20 people paid at the door. All of these pictures were taken
on Friday afternoon.

The picnic pavilion and dining hall seats about 100 people each inside with another 30 or so on an outdoor deck attached on the far side of the pavilion.

Past two years I've been around Crater Lake it's been good for a smoke-out. But I love that area.

Installed the Triumph fork protectors that I got from BikeBandit, and also installed Fobo TPMS. I really like quick and easy installs that I can be on my bike again within 15 minutes!!

Thinking of adding more lights next. An Admore (or similar) to the back for additional running, brake, & turn signals. Then something like the D2's on the light bar and possibly DM's down low by the center of the front wheel. Might also go with the Opt7 or Cyclops for the main light. Denali has a new system for the D2's and DM's that might make installation easier and less wiring with the 'Y' connector. But I'm sure there's also much cheaper options to evaluate first!

Had a pretty clear blue mix in places today so I did a couple hundred miles. Here's smoke from a big active fire (135,355 acres) that's drifted over one range and a valley, and over to the valley I'm in here -- it's one that's caused evacuations, made the worst air index recorded in Montana, and cost a fortune to fight for the last 7 weeks or so. Doesn't look like much from here.

Not much but some mild smudging making its way over the Missions here today:

With the cooler morning temps we've had recently I've been enjoying my heated hand grips! My Pinlock has also been working wonderful, even when my mirrors and windshield are completely fogged up! The only issue I was having was that my breath was occasionally fogging the built-in drop-down sun visor. So online I found that you can buy a breath box for my helmet (Scorpion EXO-AT950) for $14.95 or you can buy a 'cold weather kit' for $8.29. The kit includes the breath box and a 'snow chin curtain'!!! As I had $5 in credit I ordered the kit and installed it last night. Of course on the ride to work this morning while it was cool, it wasn't that cold that fogging was an issue, but I'm ready!!!

Not sure about that pricing structure though!!!

Got my Mmotoracks engine crash guard installed in my home rental way from home. Easy enough to do with basic tools. Installed some Clamp style LED lights as well, however one didn't work so i took them both off and they are en-route to amazon for a replacement. This
week i have about 300 miles already. My fuel economy sucks, but i believe that is because i'm in the twistys and love riding "spirited" in them.

Just trying to remember what it was like when you could see the big skies of Montana every day and it was fun to get out on my MCs as often as possible ; }

IMG_0002.jpgI rode some back roads to Granby and Carthage, Missouri partly to see if any maples were changing yet. About 160 miles.

Saw this neat old sign.
