NC700X 2nd vs 1st Gear

Is keeping the NC700x in 2nd gear at a stop sign bad or should I always switch to 1st?

I start from 2nd sometimes, on both my motorcycles, on the flat or pointed downhill. My WR is geared more for trail so 2nd is pretty low. I think about the clutch on my NC though ; }

While leaving a stop in second works OK, I think in the interest of saving clutch wear, starting from first is better. Also, if you need to leave in a hurry to avoid a conflict, being prepared by staying in first is safer. If you really think first gear is too low, you could gear the bike higher with a sprocket change.

I believe starting in second on an NC with standard gearing will shorten the life of the clutch.
