Been busy working around the house ,and did a dump run this afternoon and when I got back , I said F it , I need to go relax so jumped on the NC and went for a short 110 mile ride. Went up to Pollock pines than 50 - Ice House Rd - Wentworth Springs to stumpy Meadows res. The sun was in my eyes and hit gravel in 2 corners and 1 rock ( saw others on ride up icehouse ), but luckily just pucker power and no crash.than turned around and was able to charge Wentworth Springs w the sun behind me and missed the rocks on Wentworth. Turned and went to Big Hill lookout to watch the sunset
( did hit gravel again after I left the LO ) than road icehouse back to 50 and onto Pollock and home. Great ride did wonders for attitude :))

59-mile solo "dodge the critters ride" after dinner. 5 separate deer encounters one of them real close, had to brake super hard when it decided it would rather be on the other side of the road, then a couple black headed vultures that didn't want to give up the deer that died on the edge of the road that made the same decision, in front of someone else, and didn't make it ....and finally a flock of 6 turkeys on the side of the road that decided to split up with 5 running back into the brush and 1 running across the road in front of me. Whew dang! Was glad to make it home in one piece. 76 degrees and mostly sunny.

Day 230..rained pretty hard this morning but quit by afternoon. Got out for a 3 PM 42 miler on partially damp roads @ 69 degrees.

There've been 54 days (or maybe more now?) of 110+ degree weather here this year. I haven't ridden anything for months. Sunday was cooler, maybe 105 or so, so I took Wiley around the neighborhood just to make sure everything still works properly and the fuel doesn't totally gum (even with the Stabil in it).
I really felt the call of the ride, even for those several minutes of putting about.
(-:

I hope you’re able to get in some good riding this winter.

Having not ridden in weeks, the urge was strong today so I rode out on an errand. I think I finally have the bike dialed in for me after a couple of windshield and seat swaps. Felt like the wind & buffeting was nearly gone on the freeway @ 70mph+ speeds. Hope we get a mild winter this year.

Day 232...had a busy day with lots of personal things to do, so only got in a 31 miler right before dinner. 74 degrees and sunny

Usual commute to-from work. Anyone who hasn't enjoyed the satisfaction of lane splitting to go past a big jam and be right on time at a big local event (including parking right in front where cars can't) needs to ride to a place where it's legal.
Unusual bit : saw a gray NC (I'd guess 2015 or earlier) turning North onto Madera in Simi Valley. If you're here, say hello.

another dual ride day a 49 mile early morning ride with Mrs Ferret on her X Max and and then a 36 mile solo ride out to lunch on the CB. 68 degrees and sunny on the early ride, 72 on the lunch ride and sunny

Day 235...rained last night but had quit by morning. Waited until 10:30 to take off and got in a 61 mile ride on mostly dry roads (tree shaded back roads were still damp) 64 degrees and partly sunny

Day 236 another dual ride day. 38 miles this morning solo @ 60 degrees and sunny, and then an afternoon ride with Mrs Ferret on her XMax @ 74 degrees and sunny on this afternoon's ride. That takes me to over 15,000 miles for the year (combined on both bikes) for the 10th year in a row.

Bunged new bar ends on yesterday. A previous owner had drilled out M8 holes in the internal renthal weights. Had to fit M8 inserts to bring them down to M5 for the oxford bar ends. It should make them more comfortable for long rides. 20230918_165108.jpg

And, yes, that is a raindrop.

Weather forecast last night was for 63F this morning. Leaving an hour before sunrise I ride the NC 42 miles for a breakfast then rode it 58 miles to work and home. What a beautiful show in the sky this morning with fiery reds, yellows, and orange. I don't know what I was thinking when I geared up to leave but I wore mesh jacket and pants and mesh summer gloves. After 30 miles I was COLD and don't laugh too hard, I switched on the heated grips. When I left work for home it was 86F and the choice of clothing was more appropriate. I can't wait for fall to arrive. The wife and I have a place rented in the Smokies during the third week of October, Come on!!!!
