Rode the Natchez Trace up through Misssissippi today. Tomorrow Arkansas - fabulous state for bikers - Thursday and Friday, Missouri - back to visit my roots. Sweet Home Alabama by Sunday.

PR5 hoops review coming soon...

Where in AR will you be riding? I do love the roads around here. Lots of country roads to just have a relaxing ride. North AR has some of the most beautiful roads around!

You called it. And today it was the Arkansas Grand Canyon and the Twisted Lady. Great riding. One of the best places I know of for riding. Weekday, no traffic, sunshine and warm. On to Missouri! Made a mountain goat out of the DCT today, switchbacks, hairpins, steep climbs, wild roller coaster downslopes, you name it. She did it all in style. Never complained for a second.

Yea, second day in a row rode into work for 2018. Chilly yesterday morning (44'F at 74mph on the interstate is really brisk). This morning, 65'F...Yea.

Not today, but Saturday... Picked up a new 2015 NC700X to add to the stable. Excited to begin making it my own.
Ordered the relay kit and accessory harness so I can wire in key-switched power for a GPS and 12V accessory socket.

After arriving home yesterday, discovered UPS had delivered highway pegs which I purchased from a fellow member the other day, installed them on the bike.

Finally got to the point where I could safely swap out my winter gear (gloves, balaclava, helmet skirt/breath box, Pinlock shield) with my summer gear. Ride to work was even nicer than yesterday, so tempting to just keep going...!!

Ordered some connectors to splice into the brake/tail lights and wire to my top box.
I plan to unplug the tail light from the bike's wire harness, and insert a male-female jumper that also connects to the lights on the top box. This way I don't have to cut or tap into the bike's original wires.

The brake light connector looks like a Sumitomo HM 090 3-pin sealed connector. Bought a set from cycleterminal.com. We'll see if I ordered the corect one when they get here.
They also have the 2, 3 and 4 pin connectors for the accessory harness if you want to wire up your own key-switched power sockets.

What I ordered:
3 pin HM 090 Male and Female locking connector
6187-3801 and 6180-3451
All Connectors come complete with Terminals and Seals

Let us know how it works! I'd like to put a light in my top box, as well.

Hey Hey, my Givi Light bar came today. Had to get it installed!! Special thanks to all of the great advice from you guys, it went on with little trouble. :{)

I rode over to some nice roads in southwest Missouri.
Twice in Neosho as I was passing through I slowed because I was not sure cars were going to stop at stop signs, and each time the car apparently interpreted that as a signal to go ahead. Weird.

I also nearly ran a stop sign on a back road when I came around a turn and there was a stop sign right there.
I would say it was less than 100 feet from when I saw it to the sign. Fortunately I had slowed enough as visibility decreased. It was one of those roads along a creek with a bluff on one side and the creek on the other, and lots of tight turns.

Going back the same way I realized I had missed a warning sign about the stop sign. I guess I glanced at the creek just at that moment. Also, the road was curving left and the warning sign was to the right, naturally. A learning experience.

I stopped at a casino once I was back in Oklahoma to bet two dollars on the Kentucky Derby. (Firenze Fire, #1 horse, 50-1). Why? I studied in Firenze. I know nothing about horse racing.

Cleaned and lubed the chain last night. Used Liquid Wrench chain and cable lube. Sprayed on a liberal coat, let it sit, then wiped it down. All the gunk came right off. Then gave it a coat to sit overnight.

Rode for 100 miles this morning. Chain looks clean and wet. No fling.

Explored some gravel roads and hit some dead ends. Wow this bike can turn! Light throttle, lean it over and U-turn magic. Didn't even put a foot down.
The ease of riding is why I bought this bike. Couldn't dream of doing that with the ST1300 Hondapotamus.

All that riding, exploring, dead ends, etc and still getting 66mpg. Awesome.

I installed a 22” Madstad windscreen yesterday... and I was kinda concerned about how much buffeting I experienced in a short ride, even after many adjustments. Once, while in a truck’s wash, it felt like I had a little impact hammer at the top of my helmet. It even shook my head some, making my vision jumpy.
I spent a little more time trying it today but within an hour I decided to reinstall the original windscreen. I then took an enjoyable 90 mile ride, mostly freeway at 70-80. (Thought I’d check the snow at the local ski hill... they had planned to run the lifts one last weekend but there were too many bare areas on the hills.)
With the original windscreen (in the lower position) and using a 2 inch seat pad my head and helmet are in clean air... and it is far quieter and more enjoyable than what I experienced with the Madstad. I’m thinking that I just plain prefer the open, non-screen approach in riding, even at higher speeds. I shall check into returning the screen to Madstad.
So, this little experience tells me that I like some wind and the unobstructed view of the tiny Honda screen. And, I decided that if I really want to be out of the wind for some reason I will drive my car. ;-)

Set my aux light to only turn on when the ignition is on. Pulled the dummy plug out of the harness on the left side of the bike by the headlight, looked through my drawer of harness' and took one apart, terminal was a perfect fit(with very minor trimming), even had the round seal to make the dummy plug weather tight. No more forgetting to turn off my fog lights.

I finally had enough free time to get the bikes out of the trailer today. My son Max took his CB500X out for a ride around town. I have to wait until tomorrow morning when I get to ride to the first breakfast meeting of the year for my club, the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Vermont.

A buddy texted this morning to see if I wanted to ride. Haven't done a real ride since I started having trouble with my meds. I said yes. The first part was a little rough, hard to keep my mind on riding and not the possibility of having an attack. The farther we rode the better my mind functioned. Stopped for lunch in Saxapahaw, NC and had great fish tacos with potatoes cooked in duck fat. Very good.

It took my years to figure this out. I think that full face helmets are designed and tested for clean air. Any turbulent air bothers me in some way.

I have this thing that happens to me that no one else seems to have when I'm not in perfectly clean air. The air inside the helmet, between my face and the chin bar, oscillates a very tiny amount. The only part of my face that detects it are my nose hairs, seriously. It causes my nose to itch just enough to make me want to scratch it. It's happened with multiple helmets on multiple bikes with multiple windscreens. Clean air solves it though.
