Shinko 705's en route!

Has anyone run the 705 on the front with a stock sized rear ? I have an Avon Diztanzia Rear that is in good shape in stock size and a front that will probably have to be replaced before a 3000 mile ride I have coming up, I'm wondering what the height profile might be like ..

Any report on the mileage people are getting on these 705s?

I don’t think anyone has worn a set out yet. I’m estimating 5-7k on the rear. For reference I got 7k out of the rear Z8 and that was running it until cords were showing. For the price of the tire I can live with a 5k life span.

I would have to agree with the mileage estimate bamamate gave. I've got about 4k on mine so far and I think I may get about another 1.5k to 2k out of the rear. The front is still looking very good, so I just ordered another rear tire so I've got it on hand when I'm ready to replace it.

Has anyone determined if the size of these tires affects the speedometer/odometer readings? It could just be a coincidence, but my mileage has gone down by around 5-10% since the tire change. I also put on some hand guards around the same time. Just curious...

My mileage went down also, but when I checked my speedometer and odometer against my phones GPS. They were pretty darn close. Like maybe 1 MPH off above 65. For on tank of gas the trip was only 1 or 2 miles off, I think.

My gas mileage also went down. With the PR3s I was getting mostly upper 60 and low 70s. Now I’m mostly low 60s and sometimes high 50s. Speedo is also under reporting by 1 MPH at 60 and I think 2mph at 75. That is a change from it reporting high by 1-2mph at those speeds.

Thanks guys! I'm still around 60 mpg, but had been solidly 62-63 even when flogging it around pretty good in the mountains. I'll just live with it, I was really just curious if anyone was having the same issue.

I have this tire on my F800GS and while I only have 1k miles on it I like it so far. Good straight line and corner traction

Post # 69 in this link shows Shinko 705 now available in NC sizes.

The 705 120/70R-17 front I just installed is marked TUBELESS.

It appears the Bike Bandit site is offering more choices of the 705 than other retailers.
Some retailers do show the front tire for the NC.

Hmmm , it seems that bike bandit shows a 705 120/70/17 as due in soon...

So I e mailed Shinko and they said an ETA of July 2015...for a front 705 radial 120/70/17...

I can't wait as my Dunlop 609 is toast at 1500 miles...Yikes..

I sure like those too...... just worried about the amount of "gravel travel" I want to do !!! I want good confidence on gravel so ?????? I presently run Heidenau K60 with a TKC front and even that sometimes is a little unnerving !!! (maybe will play with pressures)

As most of you know I run this combo and have for 15,000 miles or so.I can tell you that tire pressure is the name of the game with this combo on dirt.I finally settled on 23-25 psi for the TKC,you can go a bit lower and get great grip but I felt it risked damaging the rim on rocks.

Live life,be yourself !!!!.

Off pavement I run 22-25lbs front and rear on TCK80/Big Block combo. Also run that on the Shinkos. I picked up 15mph using the Shinkos and then another 15-20mph on TKC/Big Block which makes sense as the Shinko are 80/20(ish) while the TKC is 60/40(ish). I've found the Shinkos to have a bit of initial slide in turns and then as you get more onto the side of the tire they bite which if you look at the tread they are more aggressive on the sides than in the middle.

Just finished the fender mod. Needed 2 - 25mm x 6m screws for the top back fender so I could use a nylon lock nut to anchor through the fork. Only have the front 705 so far, Monday should bring the back. My stock 2012 Metzlers lasted 15,550+ & the front still looks ok to me.
