Random thoughts / pics thread

Took these on the way home from work last night on the Nomad. Moon was shining bright. This cooler air at night is awesome, can finally feel Fall approaching! Rode it into work again tonight.

Had a couple steaks leftover, makes for some fine eating in the form of breakfast burritos this morning!

I love to cook/grill, wish I had time to cook more. Although it's probably best that I don't have much time to cook, as I'm trying to drop a few lbs, and if I ever cook, I usually cook enough to eat like a king for a couple days after. I can't fight temptation with a fridge full of delicious leftovers lol.

Haha, me too! One of our fav things to do as well. We enjoy BBq. Even in the winter here i'll suit up with a heavy parka and fire up the grill in December/January when it's in the teens or colder haha! Drives my neighbor nuts, he won't walk over but he'll text/call me and complaint(jokingly) about the smell! :{)

Here's a shot of a Bull Bison in Yellowstone National Park Wyo. This is as close as i dared to get to him, about 45-50 yards away and right on the side of the road. :{)

Do Bison get aggressive when you get into their space? Here in South Africa we get a lot of hippo and they're usually quite territorial and can be deadly if you don't keep your distance

Apparently Spokane, WA already has had some snow fall. I made a reservation for the manager's special thinking it would be something practical that they had on hand...

Not exactly what I had in mind for the potential conditions...maybe they are hoping I crash it for the insurance money...

Now that is a sweet ride there Potter! Too bad i was a day behind you, we could have met up for PIE as i'm just 30mins east of Spokane. :{)

SO, here is a random thought for anyone interested... What is the maximum mileage, anyone has squeezed out of one tank, all in one ride!!?? I just beat mine and set a new personal best of 240 miles while riding around in Yellowstone last week. Although i failed to take a picture of the Odometer, i did get a shot of the pump showing the 3.4 gals that i had used netting me a pretty run of 70.6 mpg!!

With TacoMan's approval, post them here with mileage and pump reading!! Come on, whatcha gunna get??!! :{)

Bison

Hey Karl, although i am not exactly aware of their territorialism i would not want to be too close to them and push my luck. He easily weighed more the the NC and me together!

No approval needed, the is the random BS thread, discuss any and everything that doesn't fit anywhere else lol.

The time I got 94.5 mpg on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I ran the tank to 292 miles, but had plenty of fuel left. After that, on two occasions I ran just beyond 300 miles on tanks, putting in 3.65 gallons each time. While the mpg didn’t best my record, I did get maximum range, beyond 300 miles. As a fail safe, I did have extra fuel available on board during those 300 mile range attempts. On the BRP trip, I did not, so I chickened out and bought fuel before I really needed it.

The documentation, or “proof” of those two historic events is buried in another thread somewhere on this forum.

If I’m riding local roads and getting around 85 mpg with gas stations close by, it’s common for me to stop for fuel at around the 250 mile mark. My Fuelly records show that.

Higher elevations and slower riding, like you would experience in Yellowstone, definitely improve gas mileage.

I am usually "bonding" with the team. I did go visit some accounts that I have been talking to on the phone for years. We are staying at the Northern Quest Resort & Casino. They have treated us pretty well. Back on a plane tomorrow night...so many ideas...so little time...

670cc... I know you are good for it! 300+ range is fantastic. You have the highest one i have ever heard of yet for sure!

It is something i have been wanting to attempt since i shoveled the NC out of it's snowy bed earlier this spring, but just have never put it together with our distant stations around here i would def have to bring extra fuel haha. I have been wanting to head out to my little test track area and ride the Cd'A river Rd a couple of laps and see if i could make a 100mpg, 300+ mile tank before it gets too cold here and i lose interest until next year haha.

If i can put it together here in the next couple of weeks, i'll post the pics here!! :{)

I know you’ve done some amazingly high mpg runs, so I’m sure you can do a 300 mile tank. You need to plan your route so you slip in to a gas station right when you really need it. My best mileage comes in the warm summer months, so if you’re now back to digging out of snow, you may have to wait until next summer for your attempt.
