Okay be honest...who has suffered some buyer’s remorse?

I have used my Koplin extra fuel cans so many times. But, I still manage to run out of gas. Just do not like stopping "the ride" for anything. Sure wish we had refueling on the fly like the military pilots have.

Are you brining Kolpin on the WABDR. ??
If so I would mount them lower than the Alaska trip !!.
I will have my Kolpin,just incase. !!.

It's now mounted on the rear rack!!.

I had buyers remorse.
But that was end of May 2013 when I purchased a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200C.
The suspension was so horrible I kept my Chiropractor's phone number handy.

I cured that buyers remorse when three month's later I traded in the HD for the NC700X.
We have two other bikes that take care of some of the other niches mentioned here.
I found the NC to have the perfect blend of HP and MPGs.
It was between the Suzuki V Strom and the NC.
The Not-A-Gas-Tank, the MPGs, the close proximity of the Honda dealer, and the Honda MC reputation won out.
Besides, I have read that Suzuki has been adapting the newer V Stroms more cheaper and more for the asphalt.
And I have not looked back since.

Some good reads about your bike:

I think of an Adventure Bike as one that can go off road, not on longer trips.
In my eyes all bikes can go on long trips.
To me the NC fits the description of a true Adventure Bike.
I recently called our local Dept of Natural Resources and they sent me two maps of way back and deep mountain roads.
The local Honda dealer did say he would prefer more of an on road/off road tire on it.
Now I understand why.
It has the potential to be an awesome weekend.

God bless!!

Michael

I think there are a fair number of people who had buyer's regret with the NC700X. Most of the ones I see for sale have about 1500 miles.

Obviously, they were expecting something else.

Not me though. The NC700x addresses the short comings of previous commuting bikes.

Perfect bike? Don't know about that, either.

What's the perfect house?

It gets down to your requirements and budget. One size doesn't fit all, but there is a sweet spot. For commuting, light touring and Big Wheel hauling, it's my personal sweet spot.

With my Victory I haven't given any other big cruisers a second thought.

The FZ9 has me drooling and looking at my NC and wondering....lighter, faster, fully adjustable suspension, sexy looking swingarm, upright riding position...if someone comes out with some decent hard luggage...the NC may be on a short leash!! I would certainly miss the frunk, but man, at only $500 more than a standard NC ($500 less than the DCT). Makes you wonder how Honda cheaped out on certain things (suspension, box steel swingarm) and is only $500 less...hmmm....

It might be mine...oh yes...maybe...

You are also losing 20 or so mpg. I'm not giving that up.

But it could be a second bike....

I'm a bit disappointed by many little things those NC developers are missing. It feels like they just made it out of their a***. Seriously. Most likely this would be my last honda.( I owned cbr before this one)
Think about this-if they are just a little bit brighter-they would made front seat an inch or more lower. Not only this little change would attract more people, who is not so tall, so they sit on it comfortably, it would also make the oem tall screen far more functional that it was now.
the seat itself-it really bothers me to know-how many hours (if any ) the developers did spend on it? Looks like they finally admit their mistakes and made some adjustments, but it took them 2 damn years! That would be definitely my last big ticket item that was in production in first year . never ever. I'll rather stick with my old rule-i'm only buying stuff that was in production for at least 3 years or more. Expensive oem accessories, lack of aftermarket parts/accessories. After 3k miles I'm still struggling with rough shifting into 2nd gear. I like the bike in general, but that lack of attention to details from such name as honda is really disappointing.

It's not only a honda, I'm observing this trend in many other products. Cars for example. They keep talking about economic recvery, market s are all time high. And I know why-not because there is huge demand for those goods or they excel in quality , attractive etc. They(manufacturers) making products cheaper, cutting every possible corner. The other day I was on Mercedes dealership-no more wood , no more quality leather on dash, doors etc...everything made so damn cheap, compared to pre crisis years. Bought brand new nissan for wife-man...car literally feels like it was made out toilet paper. With only 2k miles on odometer-poor thing already spended almost a month at the dealership+2 recalls. Just an example

The CTX700 takes care of the short inseam folks.

High price OEM accessories is part of the design. Leaving off the center stand and hoping you will buy one is part of the plan.

I don't think there was any significant action taken on NC seat design improvement after three years (NC750X). A new cover, at best. The OEM seat on many models is poor. The NC is par for the course. Some people are even putting aftermarket seats on $25,000 Goldwings.

One of the design goals of the NC was to make the price attractive. Honda builds the bike to a level that makes it gain a good review, makes it attractive in the showroom, and thus completes the sale. Any more effort put into the design would be a wasted expense at that point.

I throw you another example regarding poor(in my view) design that might be one of the he causes of poor sales(imo)
I'm big fan of Craigslist, selling all my crap all the time. When im selling old OEM MB cover for specific model, even at the price of a regular cover(50$, while oem cover cost well over 200$) im geting no response. While I was trying to sell some patio set-there is 50 emails each day and actually a bid wars. Why? Cause everyone is your potential buyer in case of patio furniture and in case of cover-you need to find and owner of this particular model, year etc, who doesn't have the cover. You list of potential buyers immediately shrinks to practically 0.
how is this relevant to nc? 1 question-how many potential buyers can sit on the bike comfortably? Forget about girly looking ctx or whatever the name was. I do like nc look, cause it loks like a cheaper version of bmw. How many potential buyers can comfortably sit on nc with both fits on the ground? I would say 1/4. Again-ih those honda geniuseswould make front seat lower OR spend few extra bucks to make suspension adjustable-that thing alone would boost list of potential buyers dramatically. And like I said-the functionality of tall oem screen along with it. Why not to make 3 sizes for oem tall screen? S, M,L(XL). It's a piece of stamped plastic. How hard that is? Are you serious about defending prices for oem accessories? Those side wind deflectors-$80 each and you cool with that? One more time-its a piece of stamped plastic that probably cost 1-2 bucks to produce. Bad seat on 2012 and better on 2014-make it inexpensive and interchangeable.
Same for instrument panel.want some more sensors? Functionalities? Make them easy to add. Damn..make three types of instrument panels-digital, analog and mix.so the customer can pick whatever he wants. Nc stands for new concept? What im proposing is a new concept. What they made and way they are marketing it-im not sure wtf was that. If this is commute bike-then why it's so high? To me-perfect example for perfect commuter is a burgman. Easy to get on, off, comfortable. That's a commuter.if this is an adventure-then why tank is on the back? Adventure mean carrying lot of **** on the back of the bike...stuff that you have to move all the time at gas station. Like I said -I like the look, I do like the performance, but all those little things mentioned above(and many others)makes me very sceptical about Japanese designers that work at honda.

Skeptical actually wrong word. Disappointed to see a lack of common sense. That was not expected (by me ) from honda. Sorry for my English(not my native language)

Honda sold you an NC700X. That's what they set out to do. In spite of all your complaints, Honda still succeeded. Just sayin' . . .

Yes, but! 1)They didn't make much on me, cause I bought a leftover. 2) as I said above-this would be my last honda. So-im not sure, if they can call themselves a winners in LONG run

I was riding a 1980 Honda CM400. Only had two old time dials, a real flat seat and no windshield. The NC700X seems just fine to me.
And I have test ridden 10-20 bikes prior to choosing the NC700x. If you don't like the bike, don't buy or ride that one.

back in a day i was riding on this -

i think you are missing my point. it's not 1980

I'm going on almost four months of ownership with my manual 2012 NC700X. No regrets or remorse at all. I was on 'liter plus' sport touring bikes the last 14 years and I don't miss the weight and heft. I got my 2012 for a great price and it's paid for. The advantages I receive from the NC outweigh the advantages I had from my earlier and bigger bikes.

I get on mine every morning, it starts up and rides like it did a year ago and 16,000 miles. It hauled my fat butt up the Dalton and back and never complained.I got it for a decent price that I could live with.
Enough said !!!!.

Sexy new bikes come out every year, just like the latest crop of high school girls. After a person has owned a variety of machines you start to look for specific aspects. For me it was the automatic transmission, something I have been waiting for, for a very long time. The NC has the ability to do whatever (legal) i want to do with it, and it has the automatic that works very nicely. NO regrets, here, whatsoever.

I'll have two more bikes someday, after I have one less wife.

Hahahahahaha that's brilliant. I can feel your pain brother!

I'm only into my second week on the NC, so I'm not sure I qualify for this thread yet. But man I'm loving the red beast. It doesn't feel too different from an old XL500R I had back in the late 80s. As many have said before on this thread, do the research buy the right bike for you and enjoy the ride... what more can one want...

I have been riding mine nearly every day to work. I wanted something just like the NC700X, the deal was right and the mileage is AWESOME. I have no regrets. My son had a ZX10R and it would get me into trouble if I rode it like he used to. One of his co-workers clipped it while it was parked in the workers lot and knocked off the front fairing, lights.... It got totaled out and he has a used Toyota truck now. My NC? Other than a neutral light bug that got me a new speedometer cluster, 5556 miles fewer on my odometer and no problems since. I'll be riding it till the wheels come off. Just filled it up and I got 88.6 MPG and a record 282.1 miles on a tank.

So the dealer replaced your cluster and didn't add back on the miles from the original cluster?

Giving dealers, or anybody for that matter, the ability to program any mileage into an odometer would be a bad thing.
