sorry but I think that would buckle under the 1st impact.
the plates that the tube's are welded on to are to thin.

I must say that did occur to me also. My fear would be the lack of triangulation of the mountings. If you look at the Givi items the triangulation aspect will be obvious. That is one reason why I went with Givi.

I thought about this as well, but I believe they are hard enough, as the bottom of the actual pipe will be touching the frame in case of a drop. Hope I will not prove it on my own bike. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the guards quality.
