Question Is there a way to check DTCs without the SCS Service Connector?

We saw DTC, MIL, SCS, and PGMFI mentioned. And now DLC! What an alphabet soup this is!

In the manual I see PGM-Fi as a system. MIL is the check engine light. DTCs are the codes indicating the error the system is detecting. SCS is the Service Connector...don't know what the last "s" means. But yes, alphabet soup is right.
