out with the old (left), in with the new (right)! This should derestrict my bike and raise the output from 35KW to 38KW. I don't have a dyno but I did do a top speed test after I made sure it was still running ok, and it seems a bit faster now up top than it was before. I went down a stretch of autobahn and managed 188kmh one way, 190kmh the other way, and if I recall correctly the best speed I ever had before was 185kmh and that was with some tailwind
Can you go into some details about the difference in the parts

Can you go into some details about the difference in the parts

these are air cleaner housings, the one on the left is from my bike which was restricted to 35KW from the factory, the one on the right is from a 2015 NC750. The only difference is in the connecting tube that connects the housing to the throttle body, as you can see the one on the left has a restriction, the one on the right does not. This restriction reduces the amount of air that can flow through which reduces the maximum power output

this is the relevant page from the NC700 parts catalog, if you cross reference it with the NC750 catalog you'll see that they're identical, except for the connecting tube that is restricted for 35KW versions

I'm in the United States no 750 here lol. I didn't read the righting on the new part. How much was the new part?

I'll bet that could be fixed with a knife and a Dremmel tool.

I got it from a salvage yard in the UK, €43 shipped. Don't worry though, since you're in the US you won't have a 35KW restricted bike since that is purely an EU thing

Hello, I'm back! Spent the afternoon replacing the battery in the NC. Not as easy to do as my other bikes, I must say. Honda doesn't give you a lot of spare battery cable and the battery I picked up didn't make it any easier as well. Anyway, after I got the battery in I had a little gap between summer rain showers to ride a little bit of a route someone named the "Tail of the Gecko." (Florida's Hidden Twisty Motorcycle Road - Tail of the Gecko) The thunderstorms left me just enough clear air to get a couple hours of riding in. The heat is brutal down here at the moment so I just about have to force myself to ride hence, the dead battery. I am considering taking the title "Dave, the assassin of batteries" since I can't seem to keep them charged up. Got to remember to keep the battery minders plugged in.

Got a few things done today.

Airhawk dialed in:

300 mile ride out west along the Wisconsin River, Hwy 60, to the Mississippi River. Lots of twisties!

Made some of my patented black steel brackets to mount a pair of tool tubes.
I put them on an angle and drilled a water hole at the bottom:

They're pretty secure, zip ties are for extra support, might change those later, might not.

Good enough...next

Clutch system
Nothing to adjust, DCT

That's it for 6400km

Also I cleaned, oiled, adjusted and aligned of my chain.

Now, what about this headlight adjustment (I looks in my owners manual) hmmm philips screw driver, up in there (flashlight helps) turn turn turn... that was easy, shoulda done that 8750 km ago! I couldn't see sh!t at night without putting my high beams on.

Okay starting to get dark, let's take a run to the gas station and see if the low beam headlight is any better. Pull on to the street, whoops forgot to bolt on my left side foot peg, u-turn back into the garage.

Okay lets go, Low beam still to low, good thing I brought my screwdriver and flash light, turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn this is better because now I can see how far the beam is going down the road, looks good. Driving and I can't believe how well the low beam works! I think I'll give it another turn or two later for good measure.

and then this happened...

i was very skeptical about those wraps, but looks surprisingly good. very easy to install.

This past Saturday, Bluegrass Harley Davidson in Louisville sponsored a charity ride for a Veterans group USACares. I had never ridden in a large group of motorcycles as this before but it was interesting and it was for a good cause. The ride did have a police escort and police were blocking the intersections for us.
Kick stands up at 1030am-there was a marine saluting us as we left the dealership, of course as being a veteran myself-I returned the salute.

We first rode over to Lawrenceburg ky and stopped at a gas station on US127 (big flag waving). They had a small band playing in the parking lot (was there about 30 minutes as some fueled and did a pitstop):

After we left, we rode to a privately owned war memorial (I have no idea were it was located as I was not familiar with the Frankfort area and my GPS was not working);

They had a blessing of the bikes at the war memorial; a few kind words for the owner of the Memorial. If you happen to find the place, the gate is locked but the access code is the number on the plate and all MC riders/veterans are invited to enter and reflect.

We left the personally owned war memorial and rode to the Ky Vietnam War Memorial, which is East of the Capitol and overlooks the Capitol building:

A few speakers spoke, including a Ky Medal of Honor winner from the Vietnam war (sorry didn't have my camera, didn't know there would be guest speakers) and I didn't hear his name.

We left and hit the Interstate back to Louisville (t-storms were a coming) with the KY State Police escorting us back. The line of motorcycles was almost 2 miles long (we kept in the right lane) along the Interstate, we had to slow down a few times for cars who were passing and then trying to exit I-64. The police did have the on-ramps to I-64 blocked so drivers couldn't cut into the lane as we passed.
Small boring video of the ride back into Louisville (my CEO is right in front of me on his 2015 Goldwing):

Oh, when we got back, we had a band, beer (had to buy the beer) and barbeque (included in the ride fee), and we got a t-shirt.
30 minutes after I ate, major t-storms came thru (saw it on my weather app) and waited around till it was clear for me to ride the 40 miles home (stormed again 10 minutes after I got home).
Waited in the HD dealership looking at bikes for the t-storm to pass. Saw a nice street glide which started calling my name (surprised as HDs have never been my thing), but Jees, she was beautiful...

Sorry, I know I could do a better ride report, but when I ride, I ride and don't pay attention to specific details.

Well, sold my NC700X the other day to a coworker after buying an Africa Twin. That way I can still see it when he rides it in.

Here they are parked together.

I wrote to Honda swiss to complain about broken timing chain.
They said my bike is outside warranty.
I then wrote directly to Honda Japan customer service.
Waiting for a positive response.

OE headlight low beam finally died. I'd been looking for an excuse to try out the latest LED 'bulb' modules, so I went with the Cyclops 3800. Cyclops has continued to tune this bulb over time, which is good. I know quite a few had real issues installing previous versions. It now has little shields on the low beam emitters to help control the pattern, and I had zero issues installing it. The base disconnects, it was a simple plug and play affair. The only difficult part is the tiny amount of room between the forks and the headlight socket, so you don't have much room to get your hands in there.

You can see the little shields directing the light up towards the low beam reflector:

From above the cutoff point, doesn't seem to be any glare issue:

5752658812351144313-account_id=1.jpg

Below the cutoff.... it's a bright light:

And, nighttime against the garage:

6147252267637530930-account_id=1.jpg

Not the best if I'm honest.

There is more scatter than I was hoping, but what's being scattered is pretty dim I think. It came with a little spacer ring that can help with low beam pattern I might try. We'll see, I'll go for a night ride soon and see how it is. I like to go somewhere really dark and walk a couple hundred yards away from the bike to get a feel for how oncoming traffic sees me. Last thing I want to be doing is blinding grandma in her F250 on a dark country road one night. If I can't get this how I want it, it's a good excuse to go with the Beemerphile HID projector mod

Installed Givi 1111FZ (return from Revzilla for $80) and Bestem 2012 black Top case ($95) to my 2015 NC700
The givi install was pretty easy - couple of tips. dont remove both bolts from each - do one at a time and slide in the mount bracket - it keeps everything lined up.
Dont tighten the grips bolts till you have tightened the rack arms to the grips
Also lined up the case mount holes (front) and then tighten the grip bolts - everything then just lines up

I did use the Bestem mounting bolts etc - went to ace and bought some 3/4 inch black bolts with stop nuts and a small washer - looks really nice
The case looks like it belongs on the bike with same black gloss

I needed to drill 2 holes for the back bolts - but extra 5 mins work
