I've traded my 2012 NC700X for a 2012 Burgman 400 scooter. My latest trip to Yellowstone (about 3000 miles) made me realize I was not enjoying the NC as much as I had in the past. Trying to get my leg over the tall seat was getting harder for me. The Burgman 400 is about the same weight as the...
It looks like you have a shade on your GPS? Is that some thing you made yourself? It looks like it might help with the sun glare. I have a Zumo 660 and it's terrible in the sun.
I stopped in Liberal on my trip West year before last. As I remember it, it was hot as blazes!
I have used the left foot on foot peg mount before and the only time I had a problem was when the foot peg was wet. My foot kept slipping off! I think I'll be perfecting the OCR method now.
I got mine at about 10K and I am at about 21K now. The front hardly shows any wear at all. The back is showing wear in the middle due to highway miles, but still has some life in it. I've been struggling with whether I need to change it before my 2K plus trip this summer.
Here's my fix:
I mounted a flat aluminum bar from the passenger foot peg to the rear Givi top bag mount bracket. by the way, the foot peg bracket takes an 8 mm bolt.
Now all I need to do is get some larger zip ties to attach the bags to the rack. It will only keep the honest people honest, but...
I've been thinking about something like this using a flat metal bar. I just need to find the bar material. Now that the weather here in Kansas is warming up, I will be hitting this project more.
I've considered that, but every time I look for the parts, my local stores don't have one part or another. These bags are pretty stiff, so I'm not sure I need that much support anyway.
Well, I'm going to have to go with plan B. As I got into it, I realized that much more than 1/8" would have to come off the sides of the rack. The hand hold bars raise the bag connector piece quite a ways above the actual under seat area. I don't want to weaken the rack or make that much of a...
Those are them. The only issue I have with them is that one side had the zipper mangled, so I dared not use it. Not a big deal, as I can't see separating them anyway. All in all, they look like they will hold up well.
I picked up the grinder wheel from Walmart today. When I get a warm day again, I'll make the mod and post a picture. Thanks for all the tips. I was thinking the rack was steel which would have made the job much harder.
StratTuner, your bags look very similar to what I have. It may have been...
Thanks Mike. After I posted this I wondered if that might work. StratTuner, I had thought of attaching the saddlebags to the rack with cable ties, but I like the idea that the bags will be at least a bit hard for someone to walk off. They are not locking, so I realize that I can't keep anything...
