NC engine used in new range for 2014

Seat is a bit low and the storage is a lot smaller but I like it. If it had been out last year I would have had a tough time deciding between it and the NC.

Anyway, it is a nice bike for those, who want a chopper style modern bike/cruiser. I was thinking about a DN-01 before the NC700S, but it was too low for me with no built-in package options. All i miss from the nc700s is the sporty style side fairing, but i can deal with that. Good to know, from year to year we will have options to chose from new models - of course for those, who can afford it.

Good looking bikes, but for those looking for ABS it appears to be the same as our NC's. Manual clutch, no ABS. Dual clutch, yes - ABS.

Honda should spare a few bucks for their marketing department to work up some new model names. CTX700N is a real mouthful. NC700X doesn't exactly roll off the tongue either.

The chasis seems to be very similar to the NCX one as well. And I would bet the fuel tank is in the "usual" location, it doesn't appear to be enough room between the rear tyre and the seat... Maybe this is the reason for the "frunk" being smaller...

I'll be the lone dissenter here, and have to say "ewwww" lol

Sorry folks, no offense but I just don't click with those looks or direction they seem to be heading towards. Never cared for or believed in the whole foot forward floorboard-like cruiser/chopper wannabee style or how they handled.

IMHO I think it's a real waste of a brilliant idea to minimalize the trunk like that. Unless they've fiddled with the tank shape and there's secondary storage under the seat or something, maybe. Still, a mega useful feature now eliminated due solely to questionable stylistic tom foolery.

These CTX bikes are supposed to be at the Chicago International Motorcycle Show Today, tomorrow, Sunday. If I can make it out there to the show, I'll be sure to post up HQ pictures here. I'm hoping Saturday, if my work schedule cooperates.

L.B.S. I was wondering that myself. The easy answer to come up with something like these new models, is to simply take the existing NC700S and lower it, then put a fairing on the front for the CTX700. But if so, why the smaller frunk? What's under there that wasn't under the NC700X or S?

I like the idea of the full fairing. As I commute in Seattle, having a full fairing on my current bike is wonderful in the cold and rain. And the lower seat height helps those of us with short legs. ;) But I have to wonder what compromises they made to come up with these new models? The biggest reason why I'd consider moving from my current bike to a CTX700/NC700X is an improved suspension. As I read on a headline on the Drudgereport the other day, LA is getting to be one big pothole. Seattle is headed the same way. So I want a bike with a good suspension to handle that. Will the CTX700 be that? Or will I keep thinking of the NC700X with some mods? Or will I stay with what I currently have?

Now for some head to head reviews... And maybe a for real physical bike I can look at, sit on, walk around, and maybe take for a test ride.

I do think Honda is onto something here, and they've got a couple years head start on the other manufacturers. They took a gamble and I think it'll pay off big.

Honda will be part sharing as much as possible. That way they can keep to cost low. from what I can tell, the fuel tank is in the "normal" spot, but it can be placed lower than what a regular tank could. the extra storage will be nice, but in no way will it be a frunk... more like glove box.

I like the ncx styling better and the ncx seat height - I am TALL - but that is a cool bike.

The frunk is smaller cause the gas tank was moved forward because of the lowered seat height.

The $1000 option is just for the DCT, all of them have the ABS I believe. There is an announcement quoted on ADV forum that the ABS is standard. Bottom of page 4 of thread. Wow more new product from Honda, coming Feb 8 - Page 4 - ADVrider

The lower seat height prevents the gas tank from being under it and thus the up front tank and small frunk.

I feared that I was going to regret buying my NC700x after seeing these but I'm not. I really like the looks but for now I've turned away from foot-forward designs.

My wife has a vstar 950 and one of the reasons that nudged me into buying the NC700x was that the two bikes are somewhat in the same horsepower ballpark. Unfortunately, between the low-end torque and the quick-shifting DCT, I still leave her behind. She sees what the DCT can do and is now wanting to trade her bike for a maxi-scooter. I'm hoping I can get her interested in one of these instead.

I believe that PR speak says ABS comes standard on the DCT models. You can see it also on Honda's web site under OPTIONS & PRICING -- you get both or neither.

So looking at the pictures - why does the faired bike have passenger grab rails, but the unfaired version doesn't? I much prefer the basic version, but would want passenger grab rails....
