I don’t know yet! Here in Iowa, it’s been a bit too chilly to ride yet! I’m sure I’m just not revving it hard enough but I will check the chain carefully! Thank you all!Spongehead64.........did the "issue" go away?

Woah. Downshifting into first at 35 mph is not a best practice. It’s no surprise that it clunks. Either rev match severely with the throttle when shift to first at that speed, or just wait to downshift to first at 10 mph or less.Mine will make a very audible clunk when I downshift and my speed is too high. (35 shifting into 1st). I keep my clutch in but am fast approaching a stop. Once I slow down it doesn’t do it. But I haven’t worried about that.
I am surprised anyone can even down shift to 1st doing 35mph.....Never tried it....but I know my Suzuki C50 Boulevard will not downshift to 1st unless it is doing less than 20mph....Woah. The OP has a manual 2013X....there is no gear indicator on the 2013 X models (I have the same model, no gear indicator on the manual 2013).Gear indicator on screen........unless your screen is fouled up?.
Yeah I don’t downshift to first gear until I’m almost stopped!Mine will make a very audible clunk when I downshift and my speed is too high. (35 shifting into 1st). I keep my clutch in but am fast approaching a stop. Once I slow down it doesn’t do it. But I haven’t worried about that.
I do wish the NC had a gear indicator. That would be nice!Yeah not the best idea, but I forget which gear I’m in from time to time. And no she doesn’t like it. I try not to but it is a time when it clunks.
My 2013 DCT do the same thing but if you put it in sport mod you hear less noise or manual modMy 2012 DCT clunks a lot on the lower gears at slight/part throttle openings.
Good point. I admit I really have no idea what normal mechanical noises the NC makes, as my ear plugs block those sounds. I guess that also stops me from worrying about unusual noises, in an ignorance-is-bliss sort of way.Concerned about the “agricultural noises”..........ear plugs are the solution. The big plus they improve the riding experience in every way. The real plus is you can avoid the hearing aid specialist is your elder years as well.
