2022: What did you do to/with your NC700/NC750 today?

I found the instructions of brake light engagement to be very poor.
I wrote my own and slipped them into the service manual.

Verbatim:

Loosen lower nut
Turn top nut clockwise to lower the pedal
Tighten lower nut

Push brake light switch body upwards
Turn plastic nut CW if switch operates too late
Turn plastic nut CCW if switch operates too early
Re-seat switch body

Hope this helps.
Couldn’t get the plastic nut to budge. It’s seized up pretty good from dirt most likely. Even disassembled the bike some to get my hands more room to work but still couldn’t get it to move. Ran out of time to work on it for now though so had to raise the pedal back up to where it wasn’t always on.

Obviously you did not have a big enough hammer & enough duct tape!!!!!
They will fix anything…..
;)

Listed my '20 for sale.

After long periods of back and forth over the last year, I've decided to cash in my chips.
I'll be 72 this Fall, and after 55 years of riding with never having a crash or laydown, I want to go out keeping that record intact.
Congratulations on the record. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold them as they say

Watched the potential buyer of my NC sit on the seat on the centre stand and shoot the shite with me for 90 minutes.
He wanted to see the bike again.
We agreed on a price, and he has my eTransfer info for the deposit.
He has one more thing to do tomorrow; test ride an Africa Twin DCT.
He will go with one or the other.
He had trouble hoisting a leg onto my NC (he didn't get on using the adventure-bike technique of standing on the peg)
If he thinks the NC is a strain, wait until he attempts to climb onto the AT.
I'll know one way or another tomorrow if my NC will be sold.

Finally changed my rear tire. Only had time to remove the old Pirelli Angel GT and put the Shinko 805 rear on.

You can see from the pictures where I had plugged a hole with a rope plug. I originally had one plug but as the tire was aging the last 500 miles, I had to use two plugs to retain air. I put approximately 5k miles on the rear with a rope plug.

Typical Pirelli wear characteristics… I wore the tire bald on the sides before I did the center….. 42 psi rear for the life of the tire.

Tomorrow I’ll remove the front that still has half its life left and spoon on a continental tkc 80

This past Sunday and Monday, I got in an NC700 camping ride ahead of excessive heat warnings for midweek. The weather was mostly quite good and comfortable, with heavy overcast sky and occasional sprinkles. However the second half of the ride home got sunny hot and I used my evaporative cooling vest to make the heat more tolerable. Total ride miles was about 470. 912784A3-9B45-4839-90C4-524B1D540BE7.jpegEAA7E90D-FB65-4402-96BC-8B7F0249DE65.jpeg

Finished Section 3 of the MABDR today, woohoo! Riding with two buddies on KTM's (an 890 & 1290). Decent chance we can finish by EOD Thursday which is our expiry date:) - that would allow me to ride Skyline Dr & BRP into North Carolina before bee-lining home.

NC has done great, had a couple skid plate encounters where I should've chosen a different path, otherwise, has handled things very well. Ruding with Bridgestone Battlax AX41S on front and Shinko 705 on rear.

I spooned on my front tire since I didn’t have time to yesterday when spooning the rear.

I like how your tent matches your bike

Today's ride took me over 8,000 for the year, only 1,000 behind dduelin ;)
