2021 Frunk

Might be a silly question...

Will the 2020 frunk lid fit a '21? Or is it a completely different shape?
Best of both worlds. Might solve the tank bag issues.

The lid was redesigned for 2021/2 (larger frunk volume too). No pass-through lash down points any more.

Good question. They are very similar, but I would guess no. It would take removing and swapping to tell for sure.

I believe the 21+ lid still has black rails, just not notched for the tank bag. If that is so, has anyone tried just removing the rails and cutting some notches in with a dremel? I have a 19 so I don't know what the frunk lid in the newer ones looks like. I think it is kind of dumb they removed this iconic feature of the NC. I have the Givi bag that fits like a glove and I use it all the time.

You probably could get innovative and modify it for a tank bag.

It was only an iconic feature for a few years. The 2012/2013 don't have the feature...don't think the 2014/2015 have the feature either.

Correct. 2012-2015 NCX frunk lids are all the same shape. They have black trim pieces but no slots for mounting a tank bag.

I’ve always thought of the frunk as a waterproof, lockable tank bag. Never found an additional tank bag necessary.

I like having both. If you have to pay toll charges on the motorways like we do in Ireland, a tank bang is vey useful.

So you dig in and grab a handful of cash?

Screw a couple of Kayak loops up both sides of the frunk you can then strap whatever to it--thats how I mounted a old magnetic tankbag that I have had for years

Yeah, pretty much. Tolls are mostly EUR1.00 for bikes so a tankbag with a small pocket with a few coins is what I do. They are slowly going cashless but they are taking their time.
