Repaint silver plastics to matte black

I think they only offer smaller sizes for the most popular ones. That is why I didn't get 11 yards of army green at over $400!

Nice job Philipp, I like the contrast between the flat and gloss, Too bad its not a DCT...What did that pint of paint end up costing?

I like the white and silver also.

The paint job was $500. That's of course with me taking care of taking it all apart and putting it back together.

Phillip, I can't get over it. Every time I look at it, it looks better. You can be really proud of your vision and work.

My vinyl wrap arrived today! Now I just need the manual so I know how to disassemble this beast! I am planning to take videos of the whole process and post to YouTube.

While it is tempting to jump in and start slinging vinyl, I am trying to be patient and gather some more info. I am curious if I can vinyl wrap the under cowl (silver part under the engine). How hot do you guys figure that part gets? It can't be too high. Thoughts? I am also considering wrapping the bracket holding the pegs. More thoughts?
Regards,
Mark

I would think if it holds up on a car hood why not that little cowl, Give it a try, it can only ruin $2 worth of vinyl and if it fails just paint it flat black and it will match the other matte black parts?

I like this vinyl trick and I was thinking of giving it a try when I realised I like my silver bike... I'll wait till it get brusied up. Maybe I'll do it on my 82 sebin fity honda.

I "painted" that grey part with black matte Plasti Dip, it just disappeared between the two other black parts on both sides. Mine is holding strong and you can even peel it if off you change your mind.

Take care with the foot peg hangers. I used helicopter tape to protect them and when I tried to remove the tape at one point the top silver coat came away. Maybe if I had heated to soften the glue this would not have been the case. There is still a layer of paint left but it has less sheen

Vinyl Wrap

I got a the back end wrapped. Tougher than I thought to get around some of the curves.

I'm still debating on the Red Carbon Fiber. It's on back order so for now I'm safe :)

Any tips/suggestions? I have heard patience is the key. It still looks like something I might want to do.

Haha whoa!!! Yellow actually does not look bad at all! I would totally consider that option instead of all black. Thanks for sharing! Now I only need to find a place in LA that does this type of work so that I can get it priced out. :)

Why not consider a wrap. You can do any theme or colour and it can be removed.

Oops ... Never mind I should read the to the end before posting
