Hi everyone....just grabbed a new in the crate 2016 NC700X DCT ABS.

I am not new to motorcycles...I’ve had about 30 over the last 20 years.

Goldwing X2, BMW K1600GTL, Harley SGS, BMW R1200RT, CBR1100XX, C14, ZX14, and many many more.

Time to give the automatic a try. Happy to be here and contribute as well as pick your brains.

Ordering the OEM trunk and carrier plate from BikeBandit and looking for a place to grab a centerstand.

I have been LOYAL to Cee Baileys shields as they are aircraft grade. Any other suggestions as I want to get something a bit larger. Suggestions?

Seat...is the OEM ok for you? Suggestions on aftermarket. I’ve been loyal to Sargent and Corbin.

Bark busters (to cut the wind) suggestions?

Anything else??

Thanks everyone.

Congratulations! I’m sure other will chime in with other questions but I can definitively say that Madstad windshield are the best for NC700X and I think others will agree as well. Pictures of the crated NC700X?!?!

Madstad shield. I like the seat concepts saddle cover. Tried the Shad, didn't like it. Have about 9000 miles on the seat concepts.
Put a power distribution box in the compartment at the bottom of the frunk to power heated gear, phones, aux lights, GPS etc.
Suspension mods would be the Cogent fork valves, various shocks for the rear.
Centerstand, honda oem.

I am sorry, I have to point out that DCT is not an "Automatic" in the traditional sense. It is more like an automated computer controlled transmission that shifts the gears of a manual transmission for you. Yes, there are 2 "Automated Modes" that give the perceived sense that it is an automatic. There's also a Manual Shift Mode which you use the paddle shifters (+, -) mounted on the left control pod. These can also be used as an Override to either Up or Down shift. However the computer will ignor request if the required conditions are not met. You should not be alarmed if this happens, this is totally normal.

I had a 1977 CB750A Hondamatic and that was an automatic down to the torque converter. That bike was a complete "Dog" and had no ties to its cousin the CB750K models, which was an awesome bike, to say the least.

I prepared a thread for such questions like you posted here. Please check out this thread Building an NC700X into a Commuter

The Hondaline top case is good. It's quite pricey once you add up all the pieces to be able to mount it onto the bike.

Cee Bailey got out of making motorcycle windscreens. They no longer offer them or mention them on their website.

I favor the BarkBusters VSP guards, they look good on this bike.

The Hondaline Heated Grips are also pricey and work in the reverse order, High, Med, and Low. I would recommend the Koso AM111030 Apollo Heated Grips instead. You will also need to purchase these Honda part numbers to get them to connect to the Accessory Wiring, Sub-Harness – Honda 08A71-MSG-D30 & Relay Kit – Honda 08A70-MSG-D30.

Let me know if you have any furher questions.

Congrats and enjoy the new bike in good health.

So you say this is an automated computer controlled transmission that shifts the gears of a manual transmission for you, as opposed to an automated computer controlled transmission that shifts the gears of an automatic transmission for you? Gears are gears, whether they are planetary sets or constant mesh pairs.

Aw, come on. It's an automatic transmission. Admit it. There are many that don't like to call the DCT an "automatic", but Honda itself has no problem with it. This is starting to sound like Bill Clinton, "It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is. ...".

Right from the NC700X description at powersports.honda.com:

"Automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT)

Honda’s revolutionary Automatic DCT transmission is changing the way people ride. It’s smooth, smart and the clear choice for a machine like this"..

If you want to lower it then get the NC700S center stand. If not OEM. If you want it to growl a little and not spend $400 or more then Look at Dan Moto exhaust. If you want aftermarket exhaust and a center stand then you will need a center stand stop. Both center stands and stop can be purchased at WeBike.com. They also have an alternative to the normal crash bars. They don't follow the body lines of the bike but actually stick out like bars used to so if it falls over your legs don't get pinned under the bike. They do come with stainless ubolts which need an Anti seize put on them or else the threads will gall when you tighten the nuts. I now use painted steel ones bought at fastenal.

For Frunk (new term for me...assuming it means Front Trunk) power it looks like a simple fused powerlet cable off the battery us MUCH easier that the whole Honda Accessory port....having to dissemble the whole darn bike.

Also...Sargent looks to have a great seat for the NC. Not too pricey either.

Also assuming that if I go the powerlet SAE to USB route I can snake a cord outside to power my phone which will run WAZE on a RAM mount??

Yes- I put a powerlet outlet on the front plactics with the cord running directly to the battery. Easy job to route the cord.

For power distribution the Innov Powerhub is the best $70 you can spend IMO - easy install and works great. I have gps, heated grips, aux power plug, and aux lights connected - very easily.

I have a Sargent seat and love it.

Oxford heated grips work great, multiple levels of heat and much cheaper than OEM. I use a CalSci windscreen and really like it.

One question - How the heck you get it still in the box??? My dealer set mine up and delivered it, ready to ride.

That looks good, but I'd still suggest the Electrical Connection Power Plate Fuse Block.
It has the relay to handle the switching with the ignition. It also, I believe, has higher capacity for more heated clothing.
It also has another, important function, the battery charger port. It's "ON" until you switch the ignition on, then it cuts the circuit. This means your trickle charger won't get belted by surges and is kept out of the loop in case you forget to disconnect it.
It's about the same price, too.
I've had an earlier generation version on my ZX1100E for fifteen years and it's been not only stone reliable but an enormous boon, since you can, if you work it right, get a live circuit for the GPS too if you want.
