Yes, that's a fun quote! It's particularly entertaining when an organization (the British gov't in this case) bans something 'for everyone's benefit/safety,' and then that same organization's statistics show that doing so was significantly harmful overall.

I am thoroughly versed in the misapplication of numerical data, unfortunately. In this case, the most-likely perpetrators of same should be expected to be the British gov't, as they have a vested interest in making sure the statistics support their ban. That they dramatically show the opposite suggests, at least superficially, that the data indeed indicate what was stated. If none of us have any further information about the stats, then we're all left to our own pet conspiracy theories.

The thing worse than allowing firearms is allowing nincompoops to own one.
Sometimes it is good that firearms are banned from certain populations and countries.

My philosophy is this: if you wanna be armed, make sure you are trained and safe.

Same goes to riders with powerful motorcycles and people who take up Golf.

In that way, no one can know if there is a murder by a firearm, and that there will not be any copycats.

Also ban movies with guns. They can only hurt one another with wise cracks and words....

That is the future!

Seabee, we should hangout and drink beer. I had just picked up a SR1911 with a trigger job. terrific gun for the price. My daily carry is the P238 blackwood. With the Hague, I can grip it comfortably to shoot without the pinky extension. Other than these, I have a number of SIGs and CZs.

Our "Homeland Security" guidance is to try to run. If you can't run, hide. As a last resort, and only if your life is in danger, fight with improvised weapons. A lady near us was a victim of home invaders. She hid. They found her and shot her. She probably was not sure her life was in danger. It would be stereotyping to assume that everyone who breaks into your house at night intends to harm you.

Don't forget, Mexico has some of the most stringent gun laws in the world and has a murder rate far in excess of the US. I guess the cartels don't give a damn about laws that ban gun ownership.
