Trim clips - any place cheap or any substitutes ?

Hey i sell these clips, the 91503-SZ5-003 ones, they fit 10mm holes. It's funny how they seem to fit on most Honda's. Looks like the difference between it and the "90683-GAZ-003" you mentioned is that it spreads out 2 ways instead of 4. Maybe something in this retainer clip guide would work too.

Unfortunately, it has been determined that 10mm is too big.

Stupid Clips

SWCI - Silver Wing Community Italia - Silver Wing - SW-T400 - Il sito ufficiale della Community - I curiosi chiodini o fermagli

The above link is written in Italian. After looking at the page for what seems an eternity it dawned on me how to operate the fastener. Followed the illustrations and it worked like a charm. To me the fastener operates in a counter intuitive way and that is why it's a PITA.

Hi all!
These stupid clips are a PITA big time... And they are all over the place! Why are they designed so, that they are hard to open and sooooo slippery :)
My bike has a couple of them in it's gut, waiting to melt one day (if they don't fall out...)

I looked at Procaliber - #3.13 each. That's CRAZY!!!!!!

Any ideas on a good place to buy or recommended substitute? I am sure I am not the only "klutz" :)

I am talking about the Part number 90683-GAZ-003. #22 in this link:

Thanks!

I've used this type screw type in automotive applications and found them short lived compared to the OEM fasteners used on the NC700. After a few uses the screw doesn't unscrew and you resort to prying it out with a knife and/or screwdriver.

Same with me, unfortunately. :(

Even the OEM Honda one on my CBR125R battery box cover that is similar to that style, has gone all fubar. The kind you have to turn mit der screw driver is a fail, in my book.

Thanks anyway JoeZ! :) Good on ya for keeping your eyes peeled for such stuff ;)

This Trim Clip is new to me on any Honda I've owned and took about a minute before understanding its' operation. It IS slippery to handle, as mentioned.
Lifting the center 'tee' above flush before reinstalling the clip took me awhile to figure out. Luckily I've not broken or lost one in the bowels of the bike......yet.

Learning something every day. Unfortunately I just ordered a pack. I guess I'll just keep'em as emergency spares?

CLIP, TRIM
728186 8 Usually ships within 1 to 2 business days $3.20 $3.20 OOOPSY THAT IS 3.20 EACH OMG

Here is a pack from bike bandito

Operation of the clip is a real zen experience and they work as long as they have not been overly pliedIMG_20150329_175420.jpgIMG_20150329_175457.jpgIMG_20150329_175632.jpg or yanked and torqued.

This is a repost of a thread from the VFR forumGM clip.jpg:

The fastener on the right is an OEM item from my 07 Honda VFR Interceptor. They are a common fastener used on Honda bikes and seem to be pretty easy to brake. They run nearly $3 each at the dealer.

The fastener on the left is a "GM Push Type" (Ret. 1/4"; hole, TR 240B), which I ordered from thefastenerwarehouse_com at about 24 cents each (minimum order 100 to get the best price - $24.00 with shipping). You can get them for about 90 cents each for a fewer quantity.

The GM Type are a good fit on the VFR, with no mods needed (no expanding the hole) and are a lot heavier-duty than the Honda clips.

Triumpher,
If you want to sell a few to reduce your inventory, I'll buy a few.
Just let me know how much a piece if I buy 10 clips from you, and the cost to mail to California 93449.
Thanks,
PCG

Did anyone find a cheaper source for the Honda type. I think they work pretty good if you take the time to read the manual. Unfortunately my dealer wants $4.32 each. This is a 2012 NC700X I just purchased and who ever wired in the fog lights broke several trying to extract them incorrectly. Their repair was to RTV them back in???? I went in to clean up the wiring and it turned into a bigger job that expected. :)

Thanks for that post.
Did you ever send some to others?

If not then I plan to buy a bunch and will send to others for "cheap".
