nc750x as a dirt bike

I wish Honda would use the NC platform and make a real mid-sized adventure bike......I also wish they would update the ST1300. They probably aren't going to do either of those.
Mike

wouldn't be nice if that new adventure Africa Twin was based on nc700x platform? Really it's so little to make this bike perfect it's hard to sell it...

Well I bought mine to go ADV riding on it and I have done just that !!,

It is VERY firm and has about 1" extra ground clearance.I also added a fork brace.I need to play with the preload some at both ends but way better than stock as is..

The answer would be ...me... the inexperienced rider. Not the bike!

yeah, probably yes but on sand everybody crashes sooner or later :)

today deeper in water, nc750x as black submarine :)
Very slippery underwater stones and it's easy to bury wheels in mud and sand.

later on I hang up myself on big bump with my nc750x belly,
more clearance would be nice. Fortunately it was soft, grassy bump,
not rocky.

I might add conti TKC80 are fantastic for such conditions.

Unfortunately adding a skid plate takes away a couple inches, but it looks like if you want to keep riding your bike in such conditions, it would really suck if you whacked the sump on a rock and cracked it...

couple of inches??? :( that's bad, makes little sense to me since nc clearance is already low. BTW, if sump is cracked I lose oil and cannot ride, but how much does it cost to replace? wonder is it more expensive then skid plate or not?

DUH.............+10 on the hell yes

The engine might be total junk before figure out the oil is gone.
The oil light is likely no real help if you break the case..............if it ( oil light) comes on at any speed.......it should not say oil ........it should say JUNK ENGINE.

Have you looked at engine parts prices !!!!!!!! Plus the labor if you can't do it yourself........the complete engine rebuild could easily cost more than the bike is worth ( in the states we call that a TOTALED ). Parts and labor costs often make junk yard engines the only cost effective option.

Even if a small crack might not cause severe engine damage........but.......... It might mean your walking from the middle of no where???????? Bubble gum, duck tape and JB weld are often common cure for no skid plate.:eek:q
