. . . you've gone over 240 miles and you still have two bars showing on the fuel gauge!

Greg

The most I've ever seen was 207 miles and the bar was flashing for a solid 20 miles at that point. It ended up getting 66mpg when I put 3.1gallons in.

Watch out though there have been some reports of floats sticking. It'll read two bars but then your dry. What was the official MPG with that tank?

Most I've accomplished was 80 mpg mine when the red bar starts flashing I find the nearest gas station. It usually fills up to about 2.6 gallons. So that to me means about 208 is the most I'll ever see and is about right when I go travel the slower backroads or if I ride freeways about 55-60 mph.

You need to do a search on 670cc. He knows what he's doing when it comes to mpgs.

Are ya going to get 100 mpg this time Greg?

Yes I know the problem you're speaking of. Mine has never done that. The bars tick down in a very predictable fashion. I can almost tell you when it's due to change. For the record, mine started flashing back and forth just before the picture, so I pulled over to catch it before it went to continuous flashing. I'll know tomorrow when I fill it what the mileage on this tank is, but it's definitely over 80 MPG, as has been the case with my last 7 fill ups.

That is great.my best is 79mpg.but the tank im on now has gone 97 miles and one bar gone.its either stuck or im doing good this time.

Awesome fuel mileage !!

whats your secret on high mileage?

ken

The consensus on the forum is that higher speeds kill fuel mileage. The roads I ride mostly are narrow, winding, somewhat rough, somewhat gravely rural farm roads. The nature of the roads keeps my speeds low.

The other part is just the riding style. I never use more throttle or more RPM than what's necessary to get the job done.

There's no cheating and there's nothing unusual about my bike, though. When Bamamate and I ran together at the Smokies last spring, we got one tank where both our fuel mileages were nearly identical at around 77 or 79 MPG.

I think the last fill up before I split off we all got numbers around the same.

I average around 63 mpg but I don't ride with mpg in mind. My best was 79 mpg with my worst being 54. Sometimes the bike is just moody lol.

I always feel a bit guilty having "72mpg club" in my sig line; as that's really just as high as I've ever managed to achieve, not an average.

The reality is, my average has worked out to be roughly 63.11 us mpg, counting the worst tanks (this year) of 53.62 54.09 and the best tanks 72.61 and 72.58

Most of my tanks are anywhere from 54 to 65-ish mpg. I just don't think I'm destined to ever be one of high mileage gang. :(

Maybe this will help some here to understand why I'm more obsessed with trying to turn my NCX into a Supertanker, lol

Way to squeeze out those mpg's Greg!

Something i've noticed over the miles traveled.... For reference: I fill my tank up to the small hole in the aluminum collar
that the gas nozzle slides into (bike is level and on the side stand).

IF I can keep a close eye on my gauge and see when the first bar disappears, almost every time, the
mileage on the tank at that point is VERY close to the MPG i get on the tank (given I keep the same "riding style" for
the duration of the tank).

I am guessing that filling up to the point I mentioned, and the first bar goes bye-bye, means that very close to 1 gallon has been spent.

Awesome fuel mileage !!

Thanks for posting that, turbo.

Fill ups 26 and 27 were on a 600 mile day coming back from Virginia to Illinois. There was a mix of two lane, four lane, and Interstate roads and higher speeds than my usual. I was lucky to have a tailwind that day and kept the mpg above 80.

A few days prior to that, heading to the SGT at the Dragon, I did 550 miles, all Interstate, and it dragged me down to 75 mpg. I can't remember my speeds but it was under 70 mph, so that kept fuel use down.

Greg

Those are some great numbers. I may never hit 80mpg with my riding style but never imagined riding something that could get 70mpg. Pretty happy with that.
