Yep, it was a real disappointment...
I was so excited, and I had made so much preparation, and I was ready, but who could have tell me from a month ego that the weather would have turn this way for 6 consecutive rainy days of my vacation...
Tough decision but now I am 100% glad that I decided not to go, I was not going to be happy and I was not going to enjoy it.
I would have had ruin everyone else's experience by feeling miserable and not being a happy camper, so am glad I was able to retract and not go this time...
Look at that weather chart, unbelievable...
At times I look up into the sky and ask, why God, why me, why on my planned vacation...
Instead today I decided to go float down the river and relax...

Here is the conclusion to this thread.
I did the later part of this excursion, I planned my travels around the weather cast so not to get wet, I had a blast, the NC700X is a great motorcycle and performed flawlessly.
I averaged closed to 300mi per day, coverd a total of 1600 miles, and really the only main complaint was about the wind issues with the stock windshield, some minor seat discomfort toward the end of the day, but for the most part, happy comfy riding most of the time.

After the Dragon I did the moonshine drive which took me to the second camping site the Kickstand lodge, yes I now know mo

I met with the group for the first time and we all camp together at kickstand lodge, but Saturday morning I went my own separate way again.
In the morning I passed by Cherokee on my way to Clingsman Dome, it was very dramatic clouds, cool pictures but very little visibility.
At the Dragon I met a stranger that shared a nice scenic route from NC to Hellen GA, which is why I split from the group and continued on my own.
From Cherokee I went south on 441 to 76/64/23/28/Warwoman rd/Clayton GA/97/386 to Hellen.
Route 28 is a full of waterfalls, a must do scenic road, Hellen was a jammed with traffic so I skipped that and went the other direction to Two Wheels of Suches to reunite with the group again.
Kickstand lodge is more of a party campground, Suches is better maintain and more organized, loved the both, am a fish that can swim in different waters.

Saturday night rained all night , the walmart tend help up and I didn't wake up in a swimming pool.
By 11am the roads were dry and I finally got to go on a ride with the group, we did a popular route of that are with some very challenging twist.
To be honest, I prefer to ride alone and just meet up with them at night. By the end of the run I was all tense from the amount of concentration and hard work I had to put trying to keep up with the group. I don't have the same skill levels, they go there for the fun and the challenge, they did wait for me every so often, but I enjoy a different kind of phase. Taking U turns roads at 60 MPH is not my favorite cup of tea.
When we got back to the camping grounds, they were staying one more night knowing then morning forecast for rain, I decided to get a head start that evening, and made it past Macon GA before I got a hotel.
Monday morning it was all sunshine again and so I detour to explore and venture to Tallahassee, it was a ghost town, and that border of FL and GA is not exciting at all.
After riding so many beautiful roads in North GA, coming back to FL was very boring riding here.
I made it home by noon, safe, happy and exhausted, no tickets, managed to keep the shiny side up all times and no mechanical issues. Comfy for the most part.
The trip was a success and not that expensive at all. Kudos to the NC700X.

By the way, GA has twists roads that are as exciting, challenging and fun as NC and TN but without the tourist traffic, so I was able to enjoy GA the best.

By the way, I was able to make a base made out of wood to mount the rear trunk for less than $10, it looks really good painted black, it works well, and I was able to save $100.
Having the gas cap underneath the rear seat is a pain, but the having a giant duffle bag yo store everything as one unit and then strapping the bag using the ROK straps from amazon, it made it a breeze to unload to fill the tank.
Next mods, highway foot pegs to stretch your legs and change seat position and the search continues for a good windshield.
If I don't find a good solution to eliminate the wind buffering that is affordable I might be trading this bike for a cruiser.
In this trip I realized that my hips hurt when I have to swing my leg to high to get on a bike that not only is tall, but also loaded with a tall bag, so getting on this bike was a act of yoga every single time, I guess I need something with less of a slope on the rear and shorter.
I am really thinking of a Triumph Street Twin standard bike. If you know anything about this bike please share. Or next choice would be Indian Scout, or Vstar 950.

One more observation, the Honda storage bags are close to useless because they don't take too much stuff and the side door makes it hard to stuff things in there and make everything stay in place, the life saver was the duffle bag on top of the seat.
But, the Honda hard bags do provide an excellent support base for the duffle bag, so without the hard bag it would had been nearly impossible to maintain the duffle bag stable for such a long trip.
