How about a game of NC tag? Its a lot of fun!

It’s been over a half hour. Did you get there yet?
Since at the time it wasn't the official tag, I went out for a bicycle ride, came home and took a nap.
Then this morning saw that nobody else had gotten it so decided to go for it. But for some reason I had gone 83 miles before I got there. It's only 4 miles from my house!

New tag An old building, house, or barn, just something that's obviously no longer in use.

This photo is from 3 years ago, when I took it it was for the express purpose to use for the tag game, but every time I've gotten a tag I've decided to use a photo that i'd taken on the same day that I'd gotten the tag. so now 3 years later I'm using it.

I now have a smart phone, I used it to take some photos today but just to be on the safe side I pulled my camera out of the frunk and took some more and that's the one I used because I have no idea how to get the photos from the phone to the computer

I don't know why that sideways photo is there, when I did the preview post thing I saw that it was sideways although it shows up right on my computer, so I deleted it or so I thought, and used a different one.

Old tag:

Building not in use. Avon Motel, Route 66, Afton, Oklahoma.
Afton is a prestatehood railroad town. There are three defunct motels there.
You can see one of the three surviving structures on the right edge.
This motel had car ports and some kind of unusual heating system they advertised as “Panel Ray Heat.”

Here is more info.

New tag:

Your bike on a historic bridge. This is the last remaining Marsh Arch bridge on Route 66. Marsh was the engineer who designed it. Still in use, but there is a bypass to keep heavy traffic off of it.

This bridge is just north of Baxter Springs, Kansas. If you take old 66 to see this bridge you need to double back to visit the site of a raid / battle / massacre in which Quantrill and his men killed some unarmed drummer boys. They are buried west of Baxter and sadly apparently no one knew their last names, as the monument just lists their first names.

We have lots of rivers, creeks, and ravines with bridges out west, but I don't know of anything that would make one of them historical.

Well, let’s apply the car standard. Isn’t an antique car more than 25 years old or something?

That’s gonna be tough. Not everyone has a national monument close by, and how do we define “national monument” for all countries? Maybe add in historic sites or something?

It looks like I need to go online to check for some of these, turns out many of the bridges we've been riding over most of our lives actually are historic for one reason or another.

Looking for national monuments I found out that an area we ride through fairly often is one. We have a ride through there next Monday, I'll get a pic if it's still active.

Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument is a national monument of the United States comprising 330,780 acres (133,860 ha) of the California Coast Ranges in Napa, Yolo, Solano, Lake, Colusa, Glenn and Mendocino counties in northern California.[SUP][1][/SUP] Cache Creek Wilderness is located within the monument.

Old tag. . National monument. .. this is a viewpoint inside the Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument in the Cascade mountain range. The mountain famously blew it's top in May of 1980. There's a ton of information about it on the Web, including the story of a geologist named Johnston (the last words anyone heard from him was a brief radio call that said something like "This is it!!")... And the story about an interesting old guy (Harry Truman) who would not get off the mountain and basically dared the mountain to kill him. .. the mountain won. Harry's homestead was blasted into oblivion when the entire northern face of the volcano exploded.

I will try to get a new tag over the weekend.

New tag... Water slide / water park ... This one is at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA. GWL is a hotel/resort that has an indoor water park that includes several water slides that start inside the building, exit to the outside, and then re-enter the building after dropping 60 feet. The big red and yellow thing is what I could best describe as a 'toilet bowl' sort of thing where your raft drops into it and sways and swirls 'down the tube' before ending in a pool at the bottom.

Go ride.....

Old tag: Water park.
This is the splash pad at the Wyandotte nation park, near Wyandotte, Oklahoma. The Wyandotte are a small tribe related to the Huron.
The pad is one of those you start up and it runs on a timer. This is as close as I could get.

I suppose I could buy a fancy digital 35 mm, but I have not had a “nice” camera in some time, and I would rather spend the money on guns, books, beer, and motorcycles.

The nation also has a fitness center with a pool. All paid for by idiots at the casinos.

New tag:

Next to a “pure gas,” “no ethanol” sign or something similar. This is also the Wyandotte nation, the Turtle Stop on U.S. 60.

No regular sign but on the gas pump there is a sticker/"sign" for "Contains no Ethanol" and a second saying "Pumps 1 - 4 are ethanol fee". Does this meet the test or do we need a free standing sign?

Its at the Grange in Issaquah, Washington, and directly across the street from I-90 Motorsports were I bought my NC. And just down the street from Triple XXX Root Beer Drive-in a longtime, 1950s-style landmark serving nostalgic diner fare like burgers, shakes & root-beer floats and a a favorite weekend place for car rallies.
