Abs is what steered me to DCT which I love. In 80,000+ miles combined I have engaged it on my NC and Versys multiple times for animals or cars jumping out in front of me. People who say they can brake just as well without ABS in an emergency situation are kidding themselves.
I’ve only been able to get out on a couple rides. Satisfied with air flow. As goos or better than other helmets I’ve had. If stopped it will suffocate you if you don’t open shield as it is so tight for noise reduction and vents useless when stopped.
Watch for what Canada announces for July 21. The closing has been extended a month at a time with current ending July 21. For our trip to Newfoundland we are hoping open no later than Aug 21 at least for those of us with vaccine which we have.
Border opens July 5th only for vaccinated citizens and residents of Canada. Some speculation of more allowed July 21 as Trudeau said opening in weeks not months and updates have been happening 21 of each month.
Watching close with planned trip to Newfoundland starting mid August. Could be 3 NCs...
We saw a lot of NCs on the road up there. Road the Ferry with a van in 1986 from Skagway to Seattle. Good trip. I considered it 2 years ago but prices had gone way up and would not have saved much time. Take the Cassier Hwy one way and you won’t backtrack much road.
If you do decide to ride the...
Did it on my Versys. Trip report here:

670 was along on his Goldwing.
mid border opens we will do Newfoundland in Aug. on fence between Versys and NC700. Thing 670 will be on NC and Mile LM15 will be on...
The reason I have a DCT is that was the only way to get ABS. Tutmrnedbout I really like the DCT too. I’m not foolish enough to think I can outperform ABS in emergency situation and don’t ride the crazy slippery downhills where it maybe is a problem.
I have xxl in both. Schuberth has less of a hot spot on forehead but perhaps a little tighter side to side which is OK for me. After I use it a bit more I may purchase an XXXL crown piece liner for more forehead room. Need to do a longer ride to determine if hot spot shows up.
Cycle Gear stores...
I’m with Dduuelin that use and environment are critical factors. Little concern if sitting on shelf, but daily wear in hot weather is different matter. If padding has compressed to point of being loose then helmet is less safe and will more likely have painfully hotspots than a snug fitting...
June 2020 manufacturing date so year from manufacturing to my head and not old stock. Probably hard to find one less than 6 months old by the time they make it across ocean from Germany and through distribution network. I think people weren’t willing to pay an extra hundred dollars for two tone...
Used it for a 50 mile test ride of my new Schuberth C3 helmet. I think I am really going to like it. Big upgrade from my HJC SyMax III. Split color ones on closeout at Motorcyclegear.com at good price.
Just received a new Schuberth C3 Pro from Motorcyclegear.com. The split color helmets are a closeout item for less than a C3 Lite when considering the Lite does not include the pin lock in the box. Advertised as the quietest helmet available and my limited experience over 5 helmets supports the...
I lost interest in Iron Horse when the current owners bought the place and kicked out the Horizons Unlimited annual meeting there. Have yet to hear anyone on any forum say anything good since new owners took over.
Don’t know your bags but many soft bags can sag down when loaded. If you lose the air gap between bag and pipe you can set contents on fire even if bag doesn’t melt or burn. I saw it happen to a rider ahead of me and he was totally unaware he was on fire.
I would put the shield on just to be safe.
I read a study that 60% of single vehicle MC (can’t blame other guy) accidents involved a rider who had consumed alcohol. The real learning in study was that half of those did not drink enough to be above legal limit. In other words 1/3 of single vehicle MC accidents are the guy who just had one...
Full disclosure. My work boots were high quality but the leather over my ankle was thin and soft. I was blown away that close inspection could find a scratch on leather.
