If you use the kill-switch, you can hear the transmission click into neutral. after that you turn the ignition off with the key. If you just turn the key, the transmission will stay "in gear" and only go into real neutral upon starting the ignition again (clicking after the key is turned). At...
I know. :)
I'm pretty excited to see the new Africa Twin, seems to fit into alot of the things people list here, except the shaft drive and a few other small things. ;) A light enduro like a KTM690 is missing in the Honda lineup if I recall correclty.
With all that the bike won't cost 6000$ anymore and you might as well get a BMW GS or other large enduro. Sure there are a few things that could be better, but Honda solved the bike pretty well imo when having the budget in mind.
If it can only be 1 thing to change, it would be an extra 25 horsepower, so it would have 80ish hp. That would have definately made me get an NC for the third time. :)
I always bought by reflective tape from suppliers for truck companies, or from Amazon.
Just as a small tip, get the tape that has a high reflective angle, so no matter where the light comes from it always reflects back. The really cheap stuff normaly just works when light comes at it at close...
I helped a friend change the air filter on an NC-S a week ago. You need to pretty much disassemble the whole front part of the bike to properly get to it. At least you can't really reassemble the NC wrong. :)
The speed recomendations do make sense though. For the Trekker panniers, for example, the recomended speed was 75mph. Going a bit over was not a problem, but at 85mph+ or when running into the wind turbulence of a truck or car it does get very shaky and scary at times. 80mph shouldn't be a...
I would have gotten the repairs paid by the other guy's insurance. Quite a bit of damage was left out in the damage report, so I decided to sell the bike before it cost me a cent of my own money. Recieved the damage+labor costs from the insurance and traded the bike for something new.
After thinking it through with a few friends I decided not to sell my NC. So next week it's time to order parts and get her repaired and safe for the road again. At the end, reason prevails, although it was a hard to reach decision.
Almost 2 weeks in and nothing but trouble. Still got pain in my foot and i'm stuck with no means of transport because everything takes a week to manage apparently. In hindsight I should have probably pressed charged on the dude, at least he would have to deal with his stupidity as well, instead...
I'd go for the SW-Motech bars. After my crash with them they saved the handlebars and plastics from any damage, but the crashbars got pushed in around 2 inches absorbing the blow. Definately an investment worth carrying out. But as said before, they only really work when the bike falls from a...
I was always super happy with the NC, never had any trouble with it, and yes, I am using the accident as an excuse for myself to get a more powerful bike. That was the only thing lacking on the NC imo, and considering I don't need the NC as a daily driver anymore now that I got a car that gets...
I stopped at a stop-sign while the dude behing me accelerated. No way I can see how I could have avoided it.
Sure there is a risk when riding a bike, and i'm willing to take it for what it offers me.
The damage to the bike is over 3.000€ from what the dealer could tell, so it's more than...
