Mounted Skidmarx Hugger

Just wondering if you compared those products to Pyramid's fender extender and rear fender hugger? I've tried to find a decent picture of their rear fender hugger and can't, really like the one you have but would like to have your opinion.

Styling is a personal consideration, but the deciding factor for me was the increased tire clearance of the Skidmarx vs. the others. For a bike that may venture off of paved surfaces, the thought of packing it with mud or sending a piece of gravel over the top with a DOT knobby made the others look suspect to me.

Here you go. Hope these images help. I purchased the Pyramid rear tire hugger via Amazon for $114 shipped. Received from UK within a week.

I don't like the method that Pyramid has selected to fit the hugger to the swing arm. It's ridiculous

I didn't want to relocate/eliminate the factory brake line guides just as Skidmarx and others require. I opted for Pyramid and it appears solid. Im happy with it.

Why? what's wrong with fitting it to the swingarm? that's for duk2n, of course.

Have a look at the method they used. Literally speaking, the hugger is tied with a single plastic piece to the swingarm. I'm sorry to say that but, to me, this is just crap

It may be crap, however, they don't make you relocate or elimate the factory guide for the brake/ABS lines. BTW, the tie they utilize is extremely heavy duty and the slightly stretchable type. Bottom line, it looks good, there is enough clearance and it looks good. To each his own.

Didn't want to sound rude, excuse me if I did. It's your choice and it must be respected. And it's my opinion. BTW, my rear brake and ABS line are in the same possition they were before fitting the Skidmarx hugger

Don't worry, you weren't sounding rude. Again, opinions are respected. My understanding with the Skidmarx is that you had to eliminate the use of the factory plastic guide or something to that effect. You retain the brake/ABS line using their hardware right?

I recently asked Skidmarx about the fitting on the right side and here is their quote: "The right hand side is positioned underneath the brake hose fixing clamps, and then the clamps are re-inserted, holding the hugger in place." They also said the hugger is easily installed with no cutting or drilling needed at all.

That's right Ron

fixed my skidmarx on ydae very easy job and holds the brake lines in place nicely with their inserts

Scuff it up and spray it with some clear satin....

Yep, that's what I did!

The Skidmarx hugger is fiberglass and the finish appears to be gelcoat, just like the shiny finish you have on a boat hull. Looks great but doesn't match the flat black plastics of the NC. So I scuffed the gelcoat with 400 grit, and sprayed it with matte clear. I thought about just spraying flat black, but was afraid the finish would be less durable.

I have to applaud Skidmarx for supplying very good stainless steel screws. Pyramid and R&G have forced me to go out and buy my own hardware.

I included a photo showing the brake line mounting method on the Skidmarx.

Thanks for the great and clear pics.

BTW, right after that photo was taken, I finally got fed up with Honda's choice in location for the tire pressure label. It's gone from the swing arm and stuck in the frunk. The swing arm looks much better now. I hate stickers.
