What was your ride before you discovered/converted to the NC700

I realized this morning that there is something I really miss about my BMW F800ST. When it gets low on fuel, the odometer changes to a mile counter since fuel light came on. It was a very convienient way to keep track of when you HAD to get fuel.

Well isn't that interesting. I like that. I think I just found an actual use for the second tripometer, reset B when the low fuel light comes on.

1. 86 Honda Shadow 1100, nice bike, love the hondas from 82 to 86. Have had 6 of them, shadow's and Magna's.
2. Allways wanted a "rocket" but knew I would make myself a smear, last time I was on one was at 280km/h. Love the styling and the comfort. Needed all the storage options on the NC, allways found I didnt have the room to grab milk and such on the way home from work. Ended up leaving the bike at home too much for that reason. (military) Had lots of gear to cart back and forth.
3. Like that classic look of the hondas from that time, the tank and the seat made a real v, but wont miss it all

Current bike is a 74 CB450 which is now undergoing a full rebuild. Love that inline twin!

But I need a new bike for touring, etc. Taking a serious look at the NC700x. Will be either that or a weestrom most likely. NC is in the lead and will take the win if I like it's ride. The options coming out are really attractive so I can modify to match my locale. Lotsa hills and gravel roads. Desire for long distance touring on the backroad highways, so the fuel mileage and bottom end power is very attractive. Not exactly ideal for a 40 year old sport bike so about time to get a new one! :D

I rocked a beat up 1984 Honda VT700c.
I love fuel injection, this bike you just sit down start it and let the miles fly by.

I really like that. Do I assume that the faux tank is off a GL1100?

Greeting Folks,

As the title suggests - This thread is about ...

1) Your previous bike before the NC
2) Just one feature about the NC that got you converted
3) One feature about your previous bike that you miss since your new purchase

hoping to get the thread going with pictures of your previous rides if possible.

Me first

1) Honda Transalp 700
2) Nice upright riding position, with storage
3) Soft suspension which is also adjustable with some offroad abilty

The following is the history of bikes I have owned over the years.

Lets see, First Street Bike was a Honda V30 Magna, From there it was a 76 Sportster, 69 Bonnie, 79 Sportster, 750 Shadow A.C.E., and my current other ride the VTX 1300S.
The NC700X I got it for city driving and commuting.
I don't miss my last bike, I still have it.

1) Your previous bike before the NC
'09 KLR 650 and '01 Shadow 1100 ACE Tourer - traded both for the NCX

2) Just one feature about the NC that got you converted
No 1 feature, but the collection of several - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts

3) One feature about your previous bike that you miss since your new purchase
Shaft drive and hydraulic valves on the Shadow - less maintence means more time riding!

1: 2004 Honda RC51
2: Comfort while still handling like a sport bike
3: The sound ( My RC sounded so good with the Jardine system after I cut the can down 5 1/2" )
