Alps stuff is generally good quality, if the cut/fit is right for you. Alps attire does not fit everyone.

I have this one by First Gear - I like it. Removeable liner, has armor. Plenty of adjustments and pockets.

I Had a TourMaster jacket, got 3 years of year round riding out of it and then it started to wear out. I have an Alpinestars mesh jacket for summer and its great. For colder weather I have a FirstGear Kilimanjaro and it does quite nicely in torrential rain and all types of weather. I actually have taken the liners out of it right now and love the pit zips and back venting, it seems to be working well and not too hot. If I had gotten this last summer probably wouldn't have gotten the mesh jacket.
