I am vertically challenged at 5'3" and when I first got my NC I thought I could compensate but after 3 months of sliding around on the seat and having issues backing up when parking, I decided I needed to do something. I thought about lowering it, but didn't want to mess with the suspension. After talking to other lady riders and a gal who blogs about gear (Gear Chic) i decided to try Lady Daytona boots either the Ladystars or the lady Pilots. These boots are incredible! They gave me a full 2 inches of height and they let me almost flat foot. They have a thicker sole and heel, added to this they stack the insole. They made a complete difference! They are handmade in Germany and are goretex which is awesome for rainy climates. The boots did not affect shifting at all and they are comfortable. You can get them at Revzilla. In Canada (BC) I had to get mine shipped from Calgary from Blackfoot Motosports it was the only retailer in Western Canada I could find and they gave me excellent service.
So if you are struggling with height and need new boots try these!
The boot on the left is my old one and I had to put it on a book to get the heel height anywhere close.
