I've had no luck with the forum 'Search' or 'Advanced Search' features. I must be doing something wrong, I just can't find posts that I know are in here somewhere. In the vein of 'More than one way to skin a cat' I've tried Google with the 'site:' option with great results.

For example, What was the name of that city in Thailand that nofear2trek took a bus to?

nofear2trek bus Thailand site:nc700-forum.com

The google search trick here is site:nc700-forum.com

You're not doing anything wrong. I always use Google to find forum posts because it is far, far better than the forum "Search" feature. And yes, if you include "nc700-forum.com" in the Google search terms, it'll get you what you want.

Yep, pretty common for most forums and even a lot of regular websites. When I used to be a sysadmin for a company that had their own web servers we actually had a Google appliance in the server rack that our sites would utilise for site searching as the results were so much better than the baked-in options, and it offloaded the processing for it, improving performance too. That was quite a while ago now though!
