Just got my skid plate in and want to paint it black. Do I just buff if up a bit and use a good quality spray?

You could do spray on bed liner. There are multiple options. But if you can spray an entire rock crawler with it I think a skid plate should hold up pretty well.
Powder coat and bed liner all crack off, even if put on by manufature. I have found that Restoluem Textured Black paint holds on fairly well. However, I bend my skid plate quite often. So, I usually wait until time to change oil, then I once again straighten the skid plate and repaint the skid plate. Worked for 92,000 miles now.
I sanded mine with 80 grit (random orbital sander), wiped with denatured alcohol, primed and painted with rattle can.....satin black. Worked great and easy to re-touch. I wouldn't do anything too fancy.....it's meant to take abuse.

If it's not anodized and really use your NC off-road nothing is going to stay on it !!.

Wheel well spray should also be more durable. with either you will probably need to retouch every so often. Also note they are both a textured spray so it won't be smooth like
Denatured?? Can I use vodka?
NO! That would be considered alcohol abuse......you don't want to get a reputation around here. You are on thin ice with the reputation thing already because of the scooter trash you hang out with from Kansas
Actually, he was saying nice things about you at the Hub....like......."she usually stops and waits for me to catch up in the more technical stuff" That was in reference to off-road riding. It was in town that he seems to loose you....he muttered something like "ADHD Cocker Spaniel" or something.......we couldn't quite make it out.
You will have to show up next to defend your honor next year.
