Bit by bit, Yamaha is creeping closer to our industry’s global voice for smart mobility – today, in particular, considering Yammie’s CEO just became the president of the one group that exists to protect safe, sustainable, socially responsible, and economically viable options for us riders.

Coverage from RideApart tells us that this year’s Spring Congress saw Yamaha Motor’s CEO -Eric de Seynes (EU) – elected to take on the role of President for the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (IMMA).

The move accompanies a further election of Johannes Loman to IMMA Vice Presidency, with both men representing the first big-table move for IMMA since 2020.

“My professional career in the service of motorcycles has given me many surprises and great satisfactions – this election to the position of President of IMMA is a new one,” states de Seynes himself in the report.

“I succeed Rakesh Sharma (Executive Director of Bajaj) with whom the transfer was held in an extremely cordial atmosphere.”

The man has a two-point objective on the docket for his 2023-2025 term, with the first being to “pursue efforts in terms of the security of users,” and the second, to bring motorcycles up to code and prepare them for decarbonization and modernization.

“…our products have many advantages (size, lightness, consumption and emissions, battery capacity) and represent a relevant solution for society in this period of environmental transformation, as long as we adopt the right technology according to the uses,” finishes the new IMMA President.

With Yamaha continuing the sprint toward carbon neutrality (and certain members of the EU already reneging on their electric-happy timelines), we look forward to seeing how the industry continues evolving for her riders.
