Hi guys!
I just got back from eight days in the Caribbean on a family cruise. On the island of Saint Martin in the West Indies they had a Harley in Paradise excursion. (No Goldwing in Paradise). I said what the hell it could be fun. When I arrived it was me and the guide, and three couples. They had the five bikes out and he said "Take your pick." I grabbed an old Fatboy of dubious lineage. Our safety instruction was "Take them around the block and meet back here." We all made it back and we were off. The island is beautiful and went from seaside to mountains. The roads were typical for a Caribbean island rough, narrow and poorly maintained. Traffic laws and signals are subjective and suggested, but not really followed. We made numerous stops including a nude beach and the famous Sunset beach for a beer or as many as you would like. Then into the city for some James Bond style lane splitting, passing, and traffic circles. I would not rate this a ride for less experienced riders. The old Harley had a Sherman tank tranny and some ABS brakes (Always Brake Sometimes). The motor was strong and forgiving and the mushy suspension held the crappy roads suprisingly well. All in all a great day in paradise. If it was not like Mr. Toads wild ride I would not be smiling every time I think about it.
