centrestand?????

On my previous bike a CBF500 I was lucky enough to get a centrestand off eBay for £50 new one too (new was £100)

Now I've the NC700S I'm looking a centrestands again £147 from Honda or £138 off eBay

Now do I REALLY need one? What are the advantages? Easier to clean wheels, easier to fill tank up, somehow the bike looks better on a centrestand rather than cocked over on a sidestand.

Anyone got other reasons for having a centrestand?? To help my reasons for shelling out money!!!

Easier to clean and adjust the chain. Easier for rear wheel maintenance, more stable than the side stand in certain parking situations.

With a center stand it is easier to lube the chain. With the bike on the center stand you can spin the rear wheel by hand and apply the chain lube. Also, it is almost mandatory for removing the rear wheel. With the rear wheel as a contact point, you can't take it off in case of a flat or to have new rubber installed. Again, with a center stand, you can weight the rear or tie it down to get the front wheel off the ground in case of flat or new rubber. That is my take on it.

Do the chain maintenance without a centerstand and then revisit your questions! The OEM centerstand is $117 online at procaliber.com. Well worth it IMHO.

i have a pitbull rearstand that i use for chain maintenance for my bike. though i can't take the rear wheel off myself.

i had one of those on my f4i, didn't think to get it when i traded it on the nc.

Then your really need a center stand to clean the rear wheel and sprocket.

Won't touch the o-ring chain thing and the idea that auto oiler is not needed. ............

Seems like you are from UK infact from Luton not far off from where I am! Apart from all the above I find the centre stand useful when I am travelling on the Eurotunnel and the Ferry into Europe. keeps the bike secure during movement when in transit.

A centerstand should come on every bike ( except sportbikes ) from the factory !!.If your in the middle of nowhere and get a flat without a centerstand it's REALLY hard to take off your wheels and fix it !!.I change all my own tires ( 5+ a year ) so a centerstand is a must.The first thing I,m buying when I get my NC is one !!.
