You are all so cute talking about how "hot" it gets....Try riding in Phoenix in July when it is 118 F. I had a small patch of skin exposed just above my ankle that received 3rd degree burns from riding on the freeway where it was easily over 130 F, when you consider the radiating heat from the...
UPS man delivered my Dan Moto Jisu exhaust today, installed it immediately! Much improved sound over the stock muffler, and shed a few pounds at the same time. Went back and forth for a while between the Jisu and the XG-1, but in the end I didn't want the exhaust to be too loud. Easy to...
Are you asking how much the curb weight (472 lbs, with all fluids and full gas tank) or just the engine and transmission? Good luck finding that out...my guess would be about 125-175 lbs. I've got pretty good Google skillz, and everything I found was the curb weight.
Installed a blinking red LED taillight today...easy install, once I figured out how the tail section comes apart .
Very nice bulb for the money, about $24 shipped. I wish it blinked a little faster, but it will work out well.
What brand/model of bag? I have an Ogio tail bag with the straps going under the pillion seat...I just zip tied them together the seat and it does not interfere with the opening/closing of the rear pillion.
First oil change today, a little late at 1,240 miles. Oil filter was a little tight, and I didn't have a small enough oil filter wrench or a large enough channel-lock wrench...so I just punched a screw driver through the filter. The new K&N filter has the 17mm bolt head on it...much easier to...
Completed assembly tonight. Took a little bit to get the angles on the elbows correct, but once I found the best positions, I marked the alignment with a sharpy before I took it all apart for the PVC cement. I put the measurements in the photo for anyone else who wants to copy my work. I am...
I didn't mean to say that your design wasn't good, it works great for your bag setup...I'm just going to use the OGIO side bags, and they won't really work well with your rack design. I just needed something simple to keep my OGIO bags situated correctly.
I was referring to Little Ed's design...its sleeker and less complicated.
I went to Ace Hardware to search for the parts. I recognize most of the parts, but I was able to make the rest work. I am just dry fitting everything right now, and figuring out the lengths to cut the 1/2" PVC pipe...
First mod I made to the bike...my frunk knob. Found a package of assorted A/C knobs at Auto Zone, $7. Already had he two part epoxy, I think it was $5 at Ace Hardware. Spare key, $3.
First ride with my new bike. Prescott Az/Skull Valley loop, about an hour ride. There are some great twisties south of Prescott on Hwy 89. Stopped for ice cream afterwards. Good day.
Heavy-H, are you going to head down to Mormon Lake in May for the Overland Expo? I am trying to get off work and go May 21-22nd. I'd love to see some other NC's there.
I finally purchased a 2015 NC700X today! (black, 0.5 miles on the odometer, $6401 out the door) I've been on this forum for a little while now, soaking up information. I had my eye on the NC700X for a few years now, ever since I started riding. Coming from a Honda CBR250R, the NC has plenty...
So at today's (5/21/2015) highest average (California) of $3.71 per gallon, you could buy over 363 gallons of gas and ride nearly 22,000 miles on your NC.
I'll stick with gas for a while.
I am of the mind that if you bought the motorcycle, you should get the shop manual as well. There are several online sources to find the pdf version if you are willing to dig through google a little.
