I've been looking for the right truck but most of those that I wanted cost more than I was willing to spend. I found this one, a 2022 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0 L that has literally every available option. It only has 13k miles on the truck and was a Ram Corporate Vehicle in Michigan. It still had the protective plastic from the manufacturer on the rear seats and all the little extra bits were also still factory packaged. I found it up in Orlando and jumped on it as it was over $10k less than any other Ram1500 Ltd, none of which had the same build sheet, not even close. Rides like a dream and will tow 12,500 pounds. Elane and I a planning on purchasing a travel trailer so this was step one. On the ride home from Orlando I got 25.2 actual MPG. Today on a short ride on I75 I got 29MPG. None of the smaller trucks would work for us so full size it was. Rides like a dream (better than my Cadillac, actually) and it just pulls its weight effortlessly. I traded the Cadillac in as I paid next to nothing for it at the beginning of covid and it cost me only $1000.00 (vehicle only, not maintenance) to own it for 51 months after getting a good value on the trade. It was not worth the hassle of selling it privately for the $1k. Anyhow, pretty stoked about it. Oh yeah, it was never used tow anything, the vehicle records towing as an additional measure; no data and the receiver has not a mark on it.

I’m happy you’ve found just what you’re looking for.
Do you have any uses for a truck other than for towing a travel trailer? I had a truck for a short while to see why they were so popular, but soon realized that other than for pulling a boat up a boat ramp, I had no use for it.

My wife is a truck person. These 3 trucks are hers. The left is a 97 f250 f250 he with 7.3 l power stroke she bought in 97. Her little Maverick which I love to drive. The right one is an 2022 f250 super duty she bought in Kissimmee last Xmas. It was a new 2022 she got for thousands less than invoice. It has the 20,000 lb towing package. Lol....I drive a Prius .

Nice truck, there mzflorida. My son in law likes Ram trucks. He has a 1500 daily driver and when they bought a 22' camper he found a 2500 diesel for towing. It had 299,000 miles on it but it belonged to a guy that had a business delivering campers from factories to RV dealers and the miles were logged in only 5 years.

As others have said, nice trucks, all of you. I drive a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, Std Cab, Short Bed, 4x4, with the 5.7L Hemi engine. The people I've met that drive the eco diesel seem to like it pretty well. I use mine for farm work and when the weather is bad, I drive it instead of my bike.

Love Ram. They are the best looking of all the trucks I think and one of 3 options that Stellantis makes well.

Thanks. Yes; it will provide a lot of utility for other things we like to do and others we have to do.

It is interesting that you bring up that you had no use for it. I’m not sure if it was the first time you wrote it, but I recall you posting that here several months ago right when we began considering a truck. It made me pause and evaluate a truck’s practicality and usefulness day-to-day. After several revisions to an Excel workbook, the pickup won out by a long-shot.

As a side benefit , it rides beautifully (coil over air) and is insanely comfortable. Also, it seems to be so much easier to drive than my Caddy was at night. Maybe because of more available light entering the driver’s space.

Thanks! The engine gets excellent coverage and owner reviews. My understanding is that many find 5k service intervals serve this vehicle well.

Thanks Dave! That is quite a testament to the durability of these Ram diesel engines. This thing jus pulls, shifts so smooth, and is actually very quiet.

That Maverick is getting insanely positive reviews. It’s like a cult.

Well, that’s good, and it’s good that you analyzed the usability before buying the truck. I have a van that I much preferred over the truck for runs to the home center, and other hauling, and I also have a cargo trailer/mini camper toy hauler. I tow my boat and small camper with the van. We have a motorhome for “big” RV camping, because a travel trailer simply won’t work for the varied types of camping trips we do. So the pickup truck served no purpose in our lives. It‘s gone; we sold the truck to buy an electric car. Very pleased with our fleet now. Everyone‘s needs are different.

I drove them all, except the maverick and the Santa Cruz. This ram with air suspension rides better than any of them; the Honda was very good too, but not the right vehicle for me (but that is really well engineered vehicle.) I did like the looks of the GMC Sierra but the ride quality was not great and seats were harder than a rock…not comfortably firm, boulder hard.

A truck has shortcomings for sure, parking requires more skill for instance. But like motorcycles, master it or it masters you.

I rented a Sierra several years ago and the ride and handling was atrocious. It hopped, skipped, rolled and juggled on bumpy roads and around corners. I know it wasn’t a top line model but if there are pickup trucks in He** I know the make and model.
