    Thanks for that. Here goes.

    Power for GPS.

I am aware of that method. No thanks. Looking for an easy solution near the battery.

    Dragging in first gear

After studying the exploded view in the service manual I see what is going on now. I made a colored version to help my brain grasp this and will try to post it here. It looks like the bearing would be an easy replace. Not exactly sure how that shaft engages the bearing as the service manual is...

    Dragging in first gear

Well if the cold oil moves your bike at start it should also drag some coasting in first engine at idle rpm's because the transmission input shaft is spinning faster than the engine. The slight coupling of the clutch plates due to oil viscosity is causing this. After feeling the uneven bumping...

    Dragging in first gear

Temps finally warming so...more info. First gear, clutch pulled, I hit the starter it lunges foreward. When coasting in first w clutch pulled, rpm's held high - no drag. Let rpm's drop to idle - drag. Seems the drag increases as the bike slows say from 20mph to 5mph, rpms at idle..wierd. Sure...

    Power for GPS.

Hope this post brings this very old thread to the top. I have a question. Phil you posted: "There is switched 12V power near the battery. Just use one of the white and blue wires and tap carefully". Where exactly is this wire located? If you are referring to the little red 4 wire data link...

Creating a dedicated key for the storage compartment

I didn't read every Post in this very long thread so if this has been said before my apologies. I took my key to a locksmith and told them to make me a key 1/2 inch shorter. They cut the end off of it and then ground a key just like the ignition profile but since the key is 1/2 inch shorter it...

First impressions: new Madstad 20" windshield

    Dragging in first gear

Well we have narrowed it down to oil, clutch plates, or a clutch disengagement issue. I just checked with previous owner & the oil is Rotella T4 non synth changed 800 miles ago. T4 does carry a JASO MA specification. I know there are many who run it in motorcycles including me. My Honda 1100...

    Dragging in first gear

Yeah, don't want another oil discussion..however when warm, 15-40 is well within the Honda viscosity spec plus the radical difference between free turn and not being able to turn the wheel in first without the inertia of the bike pushing it doesn't feel like oil. This is why I ruled it out. Also...

    Dragging in first gear

Ok. The results of the center stand test w engine off: OFF STAND: 1. Neutral w clutch released: Bike Pushes freely. 2. First w clutch pulled: Pushes hard. ON CENTER STAND: 1. Neutral w clutch released: Wheel turns free. 2. First w clutch pulled: can't turn wheel. 3. Second w clutch...

    Dragging in first gear

Chain is not too tight. If i am in first at 5 or 10mph and pull clutch, i feel the drag so what speed i shift at is not relevent. Things like chain anjustment & wheel bearings will effect all gears. This only happens in first. Previous owner used 15-40 but since this happens warm or cold I...

    Dragging in first gear

The drag slows the bike. No foreward pull at stops. Clutch free play is ample. Also hard to find neutral. Jumps from 1 to 2 & 2 to 1 like the clutch is not disengaging fully but there is not "that" much freeplay. Otherwise shifts fine.

    Dragging in first gear

Hi folks. New owner of a 2013 nc700x and new member on this forum. I notice when I pull the clutch while coasting to a stop in first gear there is a drag on the motorcycle. At first I thought it was the brakes dragging but the rotors are cool. I don't notice it while drifting in second or third...
