Anyone install one of these from the Webike site in Japan? What I am wondering is does it have a connector so it is plug and play or do you have to splice in the wiring?

DAYTONA : Fender less kit [77441]

Looks really good. But 2 issues would most likely arise for me. 1- I ride wet back roads often. So the spray off the rear tire would put a racing stripe right up my back and butt. 2- It might make mounting side cases difficult regarding the mounting brackets. Also, the turn signals would end up farther to the front. They may not fit between the cases. But, that said, it is one slick looking setup. If the issues mentioned do not apply to you, I'd say go for it !

It looks like this is a fender eliminator kit. If like most fender eliminators, you should not be adding any wires, just stuffing the same wiring inside the fender.

Yeah - but some are plug and play, others you have to splice the wires in or cut the existing plug off the OEM tail light and splice that one on. Well I guess i will find out soon - I liked the overall look better than others I have seen, so I just ordered one. 15,220 yen including shipping from japan to the US. Which is about $155 US dollars.

The tail/ stop light is a 3 pin plug which I had trouble finding out here in Europe when I added an R&G tail tidy. I did see that a US company called Custom Leds sell the 3 way plug with lead attached which would mean you would not have to hack the plug from the OEM stop light.

The angle of the licence plate does not look right to me

On your R&G or this Daytona one?

I like the look of this Daytona example because it's not too vertical, and not too horizontal. (well maybe it could be a *tiny* bit less horizontal)

Aesthetics can be a funny thing from one to another, eh? :D

Me too - the slope is cool to me. I like it alot and will do a thread with pics when I install it. Here is my present bike and the options I considered. I like how the Webike Daytona one sits up higher. The other is a Brundt (spelling?) sold on Ebay.

Man, I have been wanting to EXTEND my fender for MORE protection from road spray. I guess this is a question of aesthetics vs functionality.
It looks great, I have to admit.....but I'd rather have the protection from road spray.

I does look good but I keep my panniers and truck on. I need the storage so I think it would be a waste for me to do this. I really do like how it looks though. Nice and clean.

The R&G is at not so much an angle and is similar to the Bruddt. I wonder if the leds that illuminate the licence plate will cause a reflection but i guess it depends how strong the white leds are and the angle of the light they give out. Look forward to seeing it on the bike as looks a decent tail tidy.

One thing I never liked was the OEM indicators on the tail tidy as they look huge and the more I looked the less I liked. Did take me almost a year to get some leds on though....

I love how a lot of these tail tidies look, and I have always been a fan in general principle, of chopping off and flinging away the oem gigantor rear fender, but now that I'm an old dude, I dislike being covered in mud and grit, more than I like the look of a removed fender...

Plus the fact that I have panniers on now, that use a brace tied into the oem fender, doesn't help. Young LBS was every bit as anti-panniers on a bike, as he was anti-fender, lol. Old guy bikes!

Sigh...

I am 58 years of age so I guess I am an old guy too. But I live in Florida. I ride to work when it is not raining when I am ready to leave. If it is raining - well - I just take my car. If I get wet going home - Oh well. At least there is no slush or mud here - just sand. ;)

Definitely, conditions and type of riding aside, I can totally see  :D

lucky bugger...

The vast majority of riders in the US are fair-weather riders, so looks often trump function...

ok - so i installed the fender eliminator kit I got from webike. Here are the before and after pics.

BTW - the question that started this thread and was never answered is now know - the connectors are plug and play on this kit. Very nice and easy install.

Make sure you get the kit with the tail light includued cause they have two kits - one with tail light, one without. You can also get the tail light lens clear with red LEDs, but I prefer the red lens.

I have also ordered clear lenses for the turn signals from Honda [2012 cbr1000rr one] and am going to run red bulbs in the back and either amber or clear bulbs in the front. Gotta look at it both ways for the front and see what it looks like. The clear lenses and clear bulbs in front might look kinda like running lights since they are on all the time.

Turn signals are optional in Florida so i may get away with it. ;) just a thought tho - not sure yet.
