Hey all from Rhode Island. It doesn't happen that often but how's the two up riding on the NC? I generally ride by myself but every once in a while the president will come with me. Enough power?

For `normal` riding two up with luggage is ok ,just don't expect fast overtakes uphill and or against the wind ! But on the braking and `safe feeling` handling side ,perfectly fine imo. My pillions state they have felt comfortable on trips of over 200 miles
Up to 60 ..70 mph working it hard it can still deliver a smile !

When I brought the bike home my wife took one look and said she will never ride on the back of it. True to her word she is and I don't blame her at all. I'd sure as hell would not jump on the back of it and I wouldn't why ask someone else to. Ask one of your buddies to be the driver and you be the rider and take a quick 100 mile tour ---- that should answer all your questions for you.

"Ride Apart" magazine did an article on the "10 best motorcycles for riding two up".
The NC did make the list.
Article [HERE]

NC gets a short paragraph on the "2nd page" of the article... wasn't easy to find the 2nd page....

10 BEST ??? Among them is the CBR250R? The Hayabusa? NC passenger will "find a comfy seat"? No mention of the K1600GLT, the ST1300, or any of the large touring cruisers? They didn't do much research or put much effort into that article, did they?

As further evidence that this publication is not to be taken seriously, they include the NC700X in their article titled, "The Easiest Motorcycles for Shorter Riders". Really?

I loved my NCXD. My wife called it "Beautiful Beast". But just because she wanted to ride with me and I wanted still to enjoy DCT I switched to CTX (little sister of NC).
You are the head of security for your president. Decide wisely.
For me the biggest problem is simple physics. Not enough of good leg leverage and, I'm sure of it, weaker knee than 20 years ago. This bike has relatively high center of gravity. With passenger and back load it's even higher.
On a road and two up bike behaves beautifully. But in slow traffic, with frequent stop and go, you may start to think you wouldn't do that again.

I didn't say I agreed with the article...just that it existed.

My Dad, drunken US Navy Vet. that he was, had an alliterating name for the pillion seat I will not mention here or in mixed company.

He didn't teach me to ride, but he did ride himself, and I admit he was one colorful individual.

What a load on nonsense... I use my bike as a touring machine, two up most of the time, panniers as well some of the time and top box all of the time with NO issues at all. We often ride with other people and the NC has never made me feel that is lacking anything against the other bikes/riders. Keep in mind that the Integra is heavier as well, so for you the X should be just fine. No problem with overtaking either, although for me the DCT handles the job quite adequately.

Edit: One caveat is the seat comfort. We replaced the original with a Shad that made a big difference to the pillion in a million.

I tried, power was OK even on hills but my problem is the bike is too short, we're kinda smooshed on the NC.

I solved this problem having this piece made:
