We’ve got proof of registry from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) that Yamaha’s finally releasing the radar-equipped Tracer 9 GT+ to markets, just in time for their 2024 model year.

According to Coverage from Motorcycle.com, the GT+ comes with the following model code: MTT9GPRCGY. “MTT9” stands for the Tracer 9, while “GP is apparently code for the GT+.

As for the rest, “CGY” must mean California certification in gray livery, based on how “CR” previously meant California certification debut in a red scheme… and R, well, your guess is as good as ours.

“If that’s not concrete enough, the engine capacity reads ‘890’, and the transmission ‘M6’ for the six-speed manual,” continues Punya Sharma in an article from Top Speed.

“What’s missing, however, is the standard Tracer 9 GT which indicates only the GT Plus is in the pipeline for now.”

It feels good to know that the industry’s peek at Yammie’s doings with the GT+ last Q2 was spot on; the big question now is, what price will the motorcycle marque be asking for their updated GT+?

Based on 2022’s model price of $14,999 USD (and the fact that the Tracer 9 GT+’s extra components will render a sight bit more than the Tracer 9 GT in the first place), the general consensus is a rough ~$3000 price hike.

That’s considering that this machine will have perks like adaptive cruise control, stability control, and a Unified Braking System – all working through a 7” single TFT unit “with refreshed display modes, special switchgear, and a new full-screen Garmin turn-by-turn navigation system,” as well as a “new quickshifter, new integrated riding modes, a USB-A outlet, and updated rear brakes.”

Yes, this bike will be worth the punt into the Powersports industry proper.

Have a guess below what y’all think the exact price of the 2024 Tracer 9 GT+ will be, and we’ll see who was the closest when she arrives later this year.
