Pirelli Scorpion Trail Dual Sport 95% on road, 5% off road

These are for sure a good looking tire. Wonder what the live of this tire will be. Pirelli does make some of the best race tires in the world. Pirelli is known for the sticking ability of the soft rubber tires in the racing world.

The CB500X uses the same size tires as the NC700X:

120/70ZR17 front

160/60ZR17 rear

They sell a 120/70ZR-4-17 in a tube less as per Revzilla

Looks like they run about $140-$150 each. They also look to compare to the Avon Distanzia

There is a some confusion on the CB500X tires as I think the Pirelli Diablo Model 69W rear and 58W front is the stock tire not the Scorpion Trail tire.

Thank you for the links show. However, the CB500X I saw had the tires I pointed out. Could be like the NC700X, where some people received the Bridgestone, and some the Michelins.

This bike was at a Dealer? Sometimes Dealers will swap out OEM tires on a few examples, as a showcase or whatever to catch people's eyes.

A Dealer local to me did that (in fact it was the very first NC700X I ever saw in the flesh) they installed some Pirelli MT60's for one of their floor models at the front door.

Think the NC was supplied with Bridgestone and Metzlers. Both are available from Honda parts.

Guess we are not sure about the 500 other than what the parts book says?

Either way the trail scorpions come in the NC size and might be a good choice for 95-5 tire

Sorry about my confusion; I was looking at a website that only listed a very few of the Scorpion sizes. I see now that the 500 & 700's stock sizes are available.

The CB500X at my dealer also wears Scorpions, unless I totally imagined what I was reading that day (possible! It's happened before! :) ).

That's two sightings with scorpion trails..........could be they are being built with trails. Pictures on the Honda site looks like trails but hard to see.

The good news is more choices in the 17" front tire.

Edit.......picture of scropions on a 500:

Edit #2. Post 40-41 both confirm their bikes, came with trails:

But they are from Canada and Austrailia :(

I have to admit I liked them on the dealer bike. The Bridgestone's are a great commuter tire, but once in a while I get a wild hair itch to head off into the woods. The solid rubber strip down the center sure gets squirrely with any gravel under it. The demo bike was solid as a rock, and had more trail push, I didn't have to ride the clutch nearly as much. I think this could be a great tire for that occasional fire trail road type. Plus I have to admit they look pretty cool on the bike as well.

While I had the bmw g650gs, I placed a set of these Scorpion Trails on the bike and then couldn't wait until I wore them out. I hated the tires; made the bike very squirelly (sp?) on asphalt-every undulation-the tires would follow. Metzler Tourances much better tire for about the same price.

That's a good looking DS tire. The first tire I got on my NC was the Pirelli MT60, and it was awesome in the dirt and was a good ride for 2500 miles. 1300 miles with both of my boxes and maybe 65 lbs of gear plus me (maybe 180-190 w/ gear) wore the tread down nearly bare; I should've run a higher PSI so the wear could partially be on me.

Now, I have the michelin anakee 3, and the tread pattern is great, and it handles very, very well on the road.

Here in the UK the nc750X was fitted with Dunlop Trailmax tyres.
But Honda fitted the wrong compound and they wore out in no miles at all!
I wore the rear dunlop out in 1241 miles!
Honda UK are fitting the Pirelli Scorpion as a replacement under warranty :)
I had mine replaced last weekend.
Weather was awful when I had the tyres fitted so cannot yet comment on how good they are.
They seemed OK on the ride home in the rain and Fog :D
