Kawaski’s small-but-mighty ZX-25R has just been updated for 2024, proving that Team Green still cares about her rev-happy fans.

For this year, Kawi’s updated the 25R’s 249cc inline-four heart to a higher 12.5:1 compression ratio, publishing an output of 47hp.

To put the above into perspective, our lean, mean, green screamer is now more powerful than its older sibling, the Ninja 400; to that end, it has also become more powerful than Honda’s CBR500R and Royal Enfield’s INT 650.

Do with that information what you will.

Top Speed also tells us that Kawasaki’s updated the ZX-25R’s torque to 16.23lb-ft, with the yank gripping 500 rev’s sooner than before. More shticky grip means more potential, and since the ZX-25R is already absurdly happy on track, any perk in traction is appreciated.

As for the build, Kawasaki has stayed within their proverbial box for MY2024; the obligatory trellis-style tubular frame still hosts Showa suspension – 37 mm upside-down forks up front with a BFRC monoshock at the rear – and 17-inch rolling duty is complemented with a 310mm front disc brake and 220mm rotor at the back.

Expect this year’s 396-lb menace to come in a new livery, Metallic Phantom Silver, rolling out to markets in Japan by September of this year (via JW Auto, Youtube).

What do you think of Kawasaki’s updated 2024 ZX-25R?
