If you ever doubted the integrity of Mips® Safety Systems, Aprilia Racing’s use of the very first Mips-integrated lid should be reason enough to give the tech a new gander – and thanks to the pioneering efforts of Mips and Kabuto, Aleix Espargaró is MotoGP
’s very first rider to wear the tech.

“I’m very proud to be the first MotoGP rider to use the Mips safety system with my Kabuto helmet,” states Espargaró.
“Since I have been using the Mips system, I have not noticed any difference in the comfort of the helmet, but I personally feel safer riding in the MotoGP.”
“As you all know, Mips’ systems have been used in cycling for years, and from now on, I also use the Mips system in the premier motorcycle championship in the world and I’m happy to help by sharing my experience.”

The unit chosen for Aleix’s head is none other than Kabuto’s F17 Racing Mips helmet – a lid featuring Mips Integra TX helmet padding complete with a patented low friction layer that has Aleix resting easy for the Grand Prix’s next efforts at Spain’s Jerez Circuit this coming Sunday.
