    Almost Got Smeared

Just got the Kindle version of Proficient Motorcycling. Apparently, riders with two to four years of experience are MORE likely than beginners to experience a crash. I can believe it, I've been getting good and taking more risks. I need to wake up! And I need to practice my emergency maneuvers...

My very first bike, and got it home safely

When I first began road riding years ago, the strangest thing for me was the idea of pushing the handlebar into a turn. It was very counter-intuitive for me. But now it comes totally naturally -- if the road turns right, for example, you apply a little pressure away from you on your right hand...

    Hello from Portlandia

Rocker66, I encountered rain and then hail on my ride home from the shop in late June. But now our wet Pacific Northwest summer has given way to beautiful warm and sunny weather. Just got back from a nice ride down to the store and will be back out this evening for some more "breaking-in" miles...

    Hello from Portlandia

Update -- The local dealer is expecting a non-ABS NC700X to arrive in about two weeks (end of July). That might be the only one they get until September or maybe even October. The ABS/DCT version that I was hoping to get looks like it won't get to the dealer before summer is over. I cancelled...

    I'm getting very impatient!

No, the BMW's are standard shift. I think the DCT will be a very nice feature, but I can't be sure since none of the dealers in my area have any demo bikes with DCT.

    I'm getting very impatient!

I just checked BMW of Western Oregon and they have a G 650 GS in stock (VIN Y94154) with ABS at $8,976.00 US. That's just hair cheaper than the $8,999.00 I was quoted for the NC700X. The more powerful F 650 GS is only available with a bunch of custom mods for about $12K, but I don't care for...

    I'm getting very impatient!

I have the DCT/ABS version on order. I was told by the dealer in Beaverton, Oregon that they have received confirmation for their first non-ABS model for the end of July. My bike won't be here until August at the earliest. They have a Yamaha Super-Tenere on the showroom floor that looks very...

    I'm getting very impatient!

In Beaverton, Oregon, they tell me July at the earliest. They also told me that there will be very few available for all of 2012. They're a big Honda dealership and might only get two NC's for the year. Apparently, the rest of the world is buying them like crazy and the factory can't keep up...

    Hello from Portlandia

Hi Joe, I'm Kendall. I checked with the dealer again, and they were able to order the bike. However, they don't yet have a delivery date. He told me that when Honda provides a delivery date, they almost always deliver as promised. How are you liking your NCX so far?

    Greetings from Sin City!

I loved my Nighthawk 750, and I too am a relaxed and steady rider, not into speed. My old bike got about 40-45 mpg, which seems okay for a 1300 but not a 750! I also didn't feel comfortable on the freeways in traffic, though I'm not sure the NC will be better in that regard. I'm already shopping...

    Hello from Portlandia

I just put my order in for an NC700X/ABS. So far my dealer doesn't have a delivery date and in fact can't yet order the bike from Honda. But I'm first on the list when they come in.
