I frequently ride 35 miles to work at 75 to 80 mph. Never got less than 60 mpg even with soft saddle bags. I can accelerate pretty well from 75 to 85 in 6th gear. And I’m kind of a load.
I had a cheap ebay foot pad that worked well. I then had to have my side stand replaced and now it doesn't fit. When I get the bike out of storage, I'll go on a quest for a new one. It is a very convenient accessory. I've been using flooring samples from Home Depot.
Broke my ankle in a pair of Timberland boots last year. Have been riding in the TCX Heros this year. The malleolus pad would have saved me surgery and a 4 month recovery, plus the Heros are nice looking and comfortable.
I didn't mean to imply that there is an inherent problem with these bikes, but I've seen a couple of people talk about the cable slipping out. Most of the frunk issues are people trying to avoid lock-outs, I think. Mine just failed. I ordered replacement parts so I can take it apart and fix it...
I finally had a failure with my frunk on my 2012 NC700x; the key turned but didn’t engage the latch. Couldn’t get in to it, no matter what I tried. After 3 hours of that, I slipped a long screwdriver beside the latching mechanism, tapped it gently (ok, not gently, with a pair of huge vise...
Found out my left footpeg did not actually survive my little fall. Replaced them with some new ones. Odd design with weird little parts but seem sturdy enough.
I went out for a quick 45-50mi ride, the first one (except for taking it home from the shop) since falling off in October and breaking my ankle. I rode past the site of my accident, just because. The best thing was that I had the shop throw on a pair of Continental Road Attack tires and...
In 1977 I bought a 1971 CL350 after breaking my hand riding a friend's Yamaha enduro. The guy who sold it to me dumped it the day before delivery, dented the tank, and knocked the timing chain off kilter. The bike was a lot of fun but never reliable. The engine froze up at 55 mph on my way to...
I miss living in Colorado. However, I broke the exact same bone skiing (left fibula) as I did crashing my motorcycle. Both cases were due to flawed or insufficient safety gear: and clumsiness, and stupidity, and poor execution...
Well I dumped my bike today. 20mph and the suv in front of stopped dead, I locked up the back brake (like a dumba$$), the rear tire went out and down I went. My good helmet saved my head. A good armored jacket and kevlar pants saved most of me. I've been shopping for good boots with a malleolus...
