Gear shifting has become much better after i added Militec-1 to the oil. Really quite acceptable compared to the noises i had before. But, the first gear clunk won't go away, and it's loud enough to be embarrassing at traffic lights. So i'm wondering if maybe lowering the idle rpm would improve...

That's good news, i have these Pedaleira OXXY - TORNADO on my XR250 and i love them, a good firm wide peg makes a huge difference. So i'll try and see if they fit the NC.

The one thing i'm not too happy about on this bike are those plastic clips everywhere, looks like they're meant to be discarded every time they're taken off.

Maybe the six months period adjusts for the hotter climate, bad, corrosive gasoline (20% ethanol, next year it will be 25%), that's why i also add synthetic two stroke oil to the gas.
