Vibration at 55 (or other high gear load) SOLVED!

Thanks. The rear tyre at my ‘700X is a 180/55 Zr 17 Michelin. I think the OD of these tyres should be bigger than the OD of the original tyres. I definitely do experience a lugging “problem” - which, if I remember correctly, could not be felt when the bike was new. Your comment makes me think...

Vibration at 55 (or other high gear load) SOLVED!

Do you experience any difference as far as lugging is concerned ?

    Utopia riders backrest

Thanks for your comments jimmy. Since my previous post I had a look at the whole setup and I must admit - I am a bit concerned about the existing side stand. Maybe I should try and get a strong stand made up in advance. I already considered rather buying a lower bike, but I don’t want to sell...

Vibration at 55 (or other high gear load) SOLVED!

Makes sense, but I think the smaller sprockets might not last as long as standard sprockets (16t) - because less teeth will carry a bigger load. Will it not be better to stick to a standard sprocket in front and rather install a bigger sprocket at the rear ? Are any bigger rear sprockets...

    Utopia riders backrest

A bit off topic, but I wonder how much weight the peg will take before it will become dangerous to get on the bike like that ? I have a constant problem with a pinched sciatic nerve and I think the problem is caused by swinging the leg over the saddle normally. My weight is about 100kg. Will it...

    Seat mod......slope change

Correct. Only the initial models (2012/13 I think) came with sloped seats. Since 2014 Honda changed the slope and the new seats were different. I might be wrong about the year model which came with the type seats, but the seats are definitely not the same. The new type seats gets made from a...

    Seat mod......slope change

I used a wide piece of heat shrink to to make a “bracket”, as well as two furniture rubbers for my seat mod. The heat shrink has not been heated, it just serves as a strap to hold the seat down. Dead easy to make, I just spent a couple of cents on two washers. No new holes had to be drilled to...

    Sit&Fly / Sit & Fly Seat Cover

M 700’s seat has been covered with a double layer of the cheaper Chinese stuff. Due to the thickness of the cover I am not able to lock the seat on top of tthe fuel cap any more, but it doesn't bother me. The seat now offers good comfort for about four hours in the seat.

    Rough engine and vibration

I think by keeping this thread alive more owners now realize that different owners experience slight engine vibrations at different engine Rpms. That’s the exact reason why I decided to share my experience when I saw this post - I immediately realized that I experience similar vibrations at a...

    Cheap and easy seat mod

Very nice ! The biggest problem with standard seats is the angle at the upper surface. One tends to slide forward all the time, which takes it’s toll after a while. This looks like a major improvement.

    Rough engine and vibration

The odometers at the ‘700’s give an exact speed reading to give a proper idea when the slight vibration can be expected. Due to the nature of the ‘700’s ref counter there is no way how anyone can give a 100 % correct Rpm reading in this regard. Maybe the ‘750 ref counters are different ?

    Rough engine and vibration

I also think it’s just a “built in character” of the engine. I bought my ‘700 brand new, and noticed a slight engine vibration at 125 km/h (about 77 mpH) right from the start. A valve clearance adjustment didn't make any difference. Since new the wheels have been replaced three times, and each...

    Cat Delete...........

Pictures of my de-cat modification. I used a small angle grinder with thin cutting wheel to open the can. Some time ago I knocked a hole in the baffle plate at the original exhaust, and I would’nt like the bike to be too noisy - so I drilled a number of holes at two stainless steel pipes and...

    Sit&Fly / Sit & Fly Seat Cover

Almost two and a half months later, and I have'nt received the mesh from China yet. The supplier's responce to my latest (3rd) enquiry was short and sweet - "Transaction completed". My responce was also short and sweet - "What do you mean ? I haven't received my order yet !"

    When should chain be cleaned/oiled?

I built myself a switch operated chain oiler with odd bits and pieces lying around. The switch activates a solenoid valve to allow oil flow. My chain gets oiled once a week on Fridays, on my way to work. Oil flow is quite fast, and the oiler only gets activated during the first two or...

    Battery Life (when to change)

When a battery starts failing the MIL warning light starts coming on. So whenever the MIL warning light ever come on, don't panic - always get the battery and battery terminals checked first.

    Sit&Fly / Sit & Fly Seat Cover

I just ordered a seat cover like this from China. Paid just more than $10 for a biggish cover which still needs to be cut and modified to suit my '700X. Smaller covers are available for less than $10.00, including shipment costs. The one I ordered is made from polyester, and called "3D Air...
