dB is a log scale, so actually a small numerical gain could be significantly louder.

I agree that this is a bit of a design defect, but it's a weakness shared by many makes and models of motorcycle. This thread makes me eager to receive and install the fender extender I order last month!

The short oes should be more than adequate if only going in reverse. :)

I have a pair of lower wind deflectors for the DCT model for sale that are new in the box. They came with my NC700XD. The bike also came with upper deflectors already attached. I have the impression they provide some protection but have never ridden without them.
