    50,000 Kilometer Tear Down

Fifty thousand clicks is just broken in. What is it, like thirty thousand miles? There ever been a used Honda you would shy away from cause it had thirty thou on the clock? I don't get it. How's it all look a hundred thousand miles down the road? Prolly still good to go I bet. Well, keeps em...

    It's All Our Fault

I hope you guys are wrong and they bring the 750 here. That's what I'm hoping for. It's not the larger engine size; it's the taller gearing and the extra balancer I want. Ordinarily, I could swap sprockets to fiddle with gear ratio; but in this case, as I understand it, your speedo and all run...

    Homemade Tool Tube Placement

Fuel injection means you have to have a fuel pump. These are pressure pumps. Your pump will sit immersed inside the bottom of your fuel tank. Fuel is what cools and lubricates your pump. If you habitually run your fuel low, you are asking to overheat your pump. Fuel pumps are not expensive; but...

Some one explained to me my bike has no power.

Age is a plus. As much as anything, the fact that when I was young, dumb, and full of you know what, my Honda 305 Dream would not go that fast. Handling was not much. Tires were not real sticky. If you are my age, you know that we would never crawl right up the next guys tailpipe with out...

    Good news or Bad news?

I have an 8.1 mile commute. It can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. I always ride except for ice. Fire and go... the engine is warm in the first half mile. Prolly not good for any engine but my motorcycles are cheaper than a car and more fun to work on so... Have done this for 20 years...

Not a tank map holder, anyone?

I use a ziploc bag held by duct tape on my KLR. I call it the GPZ -- Global Positioning Ziplock. That and half a sense of direction will get you anywhere you need to go.

Honda's Worldwide motorcycle sales by region. Interesting!

In it for the money? I suppose we all are, in our ways. But at the same time, don't ignore that this very strategy is what has enabled the real average man to get off his water buffalo, feet, donkey, camel, you name it, and onto two wheels. It's how the villager gets his pig to market, his...

    New Honda?

More I look at it, more I like it. Not that I would ever buy one; but only cause I hate wasting maintenance time removing tupperware, while I love manual shift. But there are plenty of riders who somehow believe that tupperware enhances their experience, plenty who farm out their maintenance to...

    "The sound of Quiet Desperation"???

I am new to this forum; but most everywhere I look people keep harping on what they view as low horsepower, making comparisons to models designed for entirely different purposes. I don't much get it. Kawasaki has been making the KLR of similar displacement for 25 years now. They sell the heck...

is nc750X exactly the same as nc700x except the cc?

I have read in motorcycle reviews about two changes which have me convinced to wait for the 750 to come to the states, rather than buy a 700 now: 1) From what I have read, the rev limiter is not so rude as it is on the 700. On the 700, the engine essentially cuts out, which I find unacceptable...

    Eliminate the rev limiter?

I just now read this thread from end to end. There's an excessive amount of "what this bike is designed for" and "old Jim Watt's pony" and "I don't need to go fast" and "safe for the engine" and "when I took calculus in school" and such not in it. None of which is the point, the way I read the...

What is the worst bike you have ever owned

BSA 650 single, way back in the days when Lucas the Prince of Darkness was busy bringing the British motorcycle industry to its knees. Broken more days than it ran. Sold it inside 3 months, bought a Triumph, named it Defeat, sold it inside six weeks, and have not been back to British since.
